I hope that the Bedrock Edition continues to have limited support for mods. Modding community is the main reason why the Java Edition still exists.
I can imagine that maintaining two so drastically different versions is quite expensive and Microsoft would prefer to stop development of the Java Edition. However, as long as modding and YouTube videos of heavily modded Minecraft are the main draw to Minecraft, we're safe.

Interesting comments about Transistor not being Bastion. I started with Transistor and loved it. Then, when I picked up Bastion i was disappointed, cause it wasn't like Transistor.

For something as big as HL3, timed exclusivity would be enough, especially if first reviews were good.

Remember, Linux is free (apart from the time to learn how to install it), so if HL3 was released on Linux 2 months before every other platform millions would install Linux. If Valve announced the next generation Steam Machines in October, preloaded with HL3, and it was released for major platforms only for Christmas, thousands of Steam Machines would sell. Even if some folks would wipe SteamOS and install Windows, some would stay.

If it's the recent update, it does not fix Ruiner on SteamOS. It just dies quietly.

I will try verifying game files tonight and try again.

I went with ZOTAC NEN which, for me, stroke a good balance between price, power and size. It's tiny, way smaller than ITX or either of this generation consoles. It's built on laptop-grade hardware (i5-6400t and Nvidia 970M with 3 GB of VRAM). It handles high settings in AAA games that were published as the first wave of AAA ports in 2016-2017 and recent games on medium, sometimes high. It's quiet and it doesn't overheat.

Sure, it is not future proof and never was. But it's way more powerful than Alienware Steam Machines and fits perfectly in a living room, connected to an overhead projector. Gaming on 100" FTW!

My dream: the next wave of VR/4k ready Steam Machines done in close cooperation between Valve and ZOTAC, perhaps something like Magnus 1080, bundled with Vive. The question is what is the market for $2000+ bundles (if you include the cost of Vive)?

So basically you could do a upgradable small form factor Steam Machine for $1210 not including controller, monitor/tv, keyboard, mouse.

And people complained why capable Steam Machines costed $1000+. Small form is expensive, unless it strongly benefits from economy of scale AND is sold below cost in the hope to earn money through game sale (i.e. console approach to marketing).

It's nice that they update SteamOS 2.0, but it's high time to seriously update both the base system and the BPM.

You see, there is a reason cross-play between PC and mobile is limited, if allowed at all.
PC players annihilate mobile (and console) players, simply due to better input and average skill level. I could probably duke it out 1vs10 against mobile players and come out winning. I don't see this ever changing if mobile doesn't evolve to the capacity and input capability of a PC with keyboard (or something similar) and mouse - and if mobile ever does reach that, there is no difference any more between it and PC.

And because of this, PC gaming will always stay relevant to the people interested in more than just casual stuff and esports of simplistic games.
LOL, so you have just stated that the only serious gaming is on PC, because of precision of control. Consoles are not serious, because a K/M will annihilate a controller, and mobile platforms are an absolute joke because of lack of precision of touch screen control.

That's a pretty narrow definition of "serious gaming" and Sony would probably laugh at it. For me, a guy who traveled the whole world to capture all Pokemon was quite a serious gamer - and Pokemon Go is definitely a mobile game. And anyway, Fortnite is crossplay mobile vs Switch vs Xbox One vs PC.

And it makes sense, of course. There's just not much else to be done with such a tiny screen, doesn't matter how much their capacity increases.
