I hope they'll update drivers in SteamOS just as fast.
Meanwhile, Debian is stuck with 390.

Ethan Lee to put FNA into 'maintenance mode indefinitely' while working out a deal to work on Steam Play's Proton

Quoting: gojulSkyrim is perfectly playable on Proton but with crackling sound. Also you need to terminate it with kill -9 as normal quit results in a zombie process.

Got the underwater bug. Applying the workaround did the trick (there's a mandatory episode underwater with the thief guild mission). Did not remark the shader bug.

This does not describe a "perfectly playable game". This describes a game with annoying issues - many people are very sensitive to audio glitches, more than to video glitches.

It's on my wishlist. I hope you'll notify us when the bug is fixed, so I can grab the game.

Some thoughts on Valve’s new Steam Play feature and what it means for Linux gaming

This raises the bar for porting companies. It's a game works well in Proton right after launch, there's no money in porting it. If a native version launched through Proton offers cross play with Windows, a native port without cross play (Feral, cough, cough) is actually a regression - should we be able to choose is we want to run a port or a Windows version through Proton?

Violent twin-stick shooter 'Hatred' is now officially out for Linux

No, just no.

I didn't play Postal when I was an angst-driven youth and I'm not going to play Hatred when I'm a happy middle aged father.

Snap! The new Minecraft launcher now has another easy way to be installed on Linux

I have installed it using snap. The launcher works, the update downloaded properly, but the game fails to start. :(

Considering Dawn of War II and III, then Total War: Warhammer I and II, it would be great if we had all GW-licensed games on Linux. Then Valve could release a Warhammer-branded line of Steam Machines.

Well, obviously joking, but... :)

I do.
I do.

The only games I play on my Debian PC are those that require or work much better with a keyboard like Hacknet or Epistory, or those broken with Steam Controller like Psychonauts.

Quoting: iniudanOne thing I wish they added was GUI to install games from other vendors, e.g. GOG. This includes allowing spaces in .desktop files. I know that we're talking about Steam OS, but I hope that Valve realises that without embracing openness they won't get far.
Pretty sure it could be possible for user themselves to add what you want, I remember a few years I saw online posts where emulators were integrated to Big Picture mode.[/quote]Yes, it is possible, but it defies the idea of SteamOS. Sure, you can create a wrapper .desktop file without spaces. You can switch to the desktop and install additional software, then switch back to the BPM to add it. Neither is very couch experience.

Yes, yes, yes! Hopefully it will speed up updating drivers.

That said, the BPM is more important that the base SteamOS system. The thing is broken hopelessly not just on SteamOS, but also on Debian or Windows. Browsing special offers doesn't work. Screenshots or videos timeout. Notifications work or don't work.
