It's worth noting that all ways of tracking it come with their own flaws.
Flaw in here is , Chromebook's counts as Linux.
Chromebook is Linux, its problem is that it is not GNU. Still, better than the rest.
Yes, an increase of almost 1% in a month can only indicate some abnormality in the counting of the numbers. Chromebooks should be entering the Linux count, but since they are Linux, that's not entirely wrong, and it's very cool to see Linux passing 3%, maybe this call the market's attention to software and games support on Linux.

Quoting: finaldestLearning to use Linux was the best decision I have ever made and wish that I had tried it years ago. I would never go back to windows now and this is all thanks to windows 10 giving me the push to try Linux.

I do believe that by the end of 2017 that we may just reach a 5% marketshare figure, Hopefully.
Quoting: dmantione5% on which stat website? Except for W3Schools, 5% looks a bit out of range to me. I would be very happy with 3% on Netmarketshare end 2017.
It is always good to see new users coming to Linux.

All these data show that 2016 use of Linux has grown, perhaps not as much as we would like, but it seems that Linux usage has never been so great as now.

Really 5% seems a bit distant, if by the end of 2017 we can reach 3% in Netmarketshare and finally pass 1% in Steam, it will be a considerable advance.

It is extremely sad to know that. I think Steam should have some way to not allow such a practice.

It's looking like Linux may hit 3,000 games on Steam by the end of 2016

It's good to know that. Now we really need more day-1 releases. I hope that this amount of games released for Linux will help us increase marketshare, and this way, we will have more games with more quality.
