advances in the last two years, but the situation is far from good, and let's be honest, there are a much larger base of Windows than Linux users, we need more people playing on Linux to attract the attention of developers, but we need more games to attract new players to Linux, and so we were in a difficult cycle to break.
This year it seems that the number of people using Linux had a small increase, but see if this trend continues and helps us to more advances.

Quoting: Mountain ManQuoting: BoogiepopPhantomAs far as I know, Valve is still actively supporting Steam for Linux and SteamOS, so why the doom and gloom? This was always a long-term project for them.I don't understand Valve's indifference in all these broken promises and massive delays...I don't want to be thoroughly pessimistic, but as I see it, SteamOS was Valve vanity project and it more or less flopped. So Valve cares less and less about linux/steamos it seems.
Quoting: EikeI have the impression that the future of games for Linux is very dependent on Valve, had interestingQuoting: Mountain ManAs far as I know, Valve is still actively supporting Steam for Linux and SteamOS, so why the doom and gloom? Besides doing basic maintenance on Steam for Linux?

Quoting: BeamboomIt is true and it is very interesting this data, but 4 or 6 months is a short period to draw conclusions, it may be just a normal variation in the statistics, but we will follow this data to the end of the year and see if the numbers will keep this trend or not ;)Quoting: whitewolfguyLook at the numbers for the time span we talk about here, April to July. Mac drops, Linux rise, Windows stays practically the same.Quoting: BeamboomI see many of you speculating if this has anything to do with win10 but looking at win and mac percentages it rather looks more like we've taken users from Mac, not Windows...(!)Hmmm...according to the site data shown in the article, in January Windows had 90.61% and in July it had 89.79%, Mac OS had in January 7.68% and in July it had 7.87%, then considering only NetMarketShare data, Window had a slight drop and Linux had a small increase. But I do not I analyzed the data from the other sites mentioned in the posts.

As these data are not a true picture of reality, it seems that there is a small and steady increase in the use of Linux, it will be interesting to follow this data to the end of the year and see if the high trend will keep ...I want to be optimistic :)

Quoting: Segata SanshiroI'd like to see it be a lot higher, obviously. But then considering it smashes the numbers for the Wii U and NX (I know they weren't the most popular consoles ever) is pretty encouraging considering Nintendo is a massive company that has been in the industry for decades and Linux gaming is still very much in its infancy.Really looking for that reference, the not bad numbers, but what percentage of these developers who intend to launch on the day-1? This is also an important question!
