Just like it.
Not really, the only similarity is they are both compile time libraries. Beyond that they diverge somewhat however I'm not going into specifics :)

Quoting: GuestI hope they didn't use any runtime translator, since Unreal engine acutally works on linux...
We've never used a runtime translator in any of our games.
Thanks for the explanation and all the great ports! Just recently finished Tomb Raider, looking forward to what you guys have coming for us next!

Overlord for Linux release date announced, arriving tomorrow the 21st of July

Quoting: VPHi,

We are selling Overlord from Deliver2 only at the current time. There is no Steam key provided as it is a direct download. I cannot answer how long it will be only on Deliver2 site, that would be a decision for the sales team.

VP has two revenue streams when it ports games. If it is directly for the original publishers, the revenue is fixed and the publisher makes the decision where it is sold. However, some games are only available if VP covers all costs to bring the game to market, and unfortunately that can mean zero revenue for the version we make if it is sold on Steam. Steam do not split sku's and obviously we cannot release games for free.

The note regarding Deliver2Mac was an error on the site which should now be corrected.

The support page will now be updated also.

Regards.
Then,

Quoting: VPJust to confirm, we are going to make the game available on Steam shortly... we will make this announcement soon.

Overlord and Overlord: Raising Hell released for Linux, some thoughts and a port report

I asked whether those who purchase it from deliver2.com would get steam keys and haven't gotten any response for three days. I still says awaiting assignment.

Quoting: iunoI already bought and played this game on Windows. I liked it very much, and I recommend it to anyone to try it out, the first Episode is available for free. If it doesn't convince you absolutely but triggered any kind of interest, go ahead. If you can get over the fact that it's a bit of a teen drama, the characters are all stereotypes and there are some logic errors.
Atmosphere, music, storytelling, style are all great.

I wonder why feral did this port and not the original devs. It is built with Unreal Engine which runs on Linux. Did Feral make it work natively or are they using indirectx again?
They're using IndirectX. Unreal 3 didn't have very great Linux support, so...

What is indirectX??? is this like Valve's togl?

Quoting: BlackBloodRumI use a combination of "UnitedRPMs" and Negativo for my system. I do not have RPMFusion, I use UnitedRPMs because it has all the codecs etc that I need along with Kodi.

You can see what UnitedRPMs has here:
https://github.com/UnitedRPMs [External Link]

But you'll need at least Fedora 24.
Thanks for this also. I couldn't find kodi in a repo. I think I'm only on 24 on 1 or 2 out of 4 or 5 machines though, the rest I think are on 23. I've considered doing an ansible, puppet or something to keep them all current but they have very different hardware and run pretty different software sets so not sure it would be worth the effort.

Quoting: m2mg2Nvidia driver 367??? That isn't even Fedora repo's. I only uninstalled the repo binary driver 35-something and compiled the binary from Nvidia a couple of weeks ago to get Vulkan support. Are they using Vulkan, what would the reason to require such a recent driver be? Seems like the majority of Linux users would not have this version, am I wrong?
367.27 is quite old already, 367.35 is a thing atm
i don't know why some distros hold back driver updates... its just stupid imo
I don't know about quite old, been out for a while yes. I went to 36*** a while back but had to downgrade because some of my games wouldn't start with it, also Shadow of Mordor anyone? That appears to be sorted now, except for Shadow of Mordor.

I also only see up to 352 in Ubuntu repos. I assume 36* is available in SteamOS?
If you are missing textures in Shadow of Mordor add __GL_ShaderPortabilityWarnings=0 %command% to the launch options in Steam.
Yeah I've seen the fix, we shouldn't have to do this though. Feral has had quite some to fix it.

Hey,

Fedora users do have access to this driver.

I use this driver, I find it's much better than the mess that is RPMFusion:
http://negativo17.org/nvidia-driver/ [External Link]
Thanks for the heads up. I think I have used that repo in the past. So many repos though, I have a repo for adobe, handbrake, openra, chrome, playonlinux and rpmfusion

Looking at the Negativo page it has handbrake and adobe stuff in it. Does it contain most other stuff from rpmfusion, meaning can I remove rpmfusion/adobe/handbrake repo and use Negativo without losing anything important?

There is a real lack of communication on VP on this one, the first one it has really been needed. If you buy it at deliver.com do you get a steam key? Will existing owners get it without repurchasing? How long will it be only at deliver.com. I own Overlord but not raising hell, I would buy it from deliver.com but I want to get a steam key. Also their site says all content delivered through deliver2mac client, but this is a Linux game. Some clarification would be nice of how this is supposed to work. I'll be contacting them for clarification.
