Dark sci-fi platformer 'Orphan' looks awesome, still heading to Linux

I got it thru Kickstarter as well. I've only played a few mins, but have enjoyed it so far. Its a bit like Limbo with an inventory. The 360 controller doesn't seem work with SteamPlay though, so hopefully that gets fixed up for the Linux version.

It works with SteamPlay, but the longer the wait the better. It was pretty clearly not done cooking.

QuoteAnd I WANT The Amazing Adventures of Captain Spirit (that is unplayable on Steamplay due to Denuvo.. but a report said that it works with the Steam client in offline mode)

Why does it have Denuvo if its a free download...?

Anywho, looking forward to playing BTS.

An update on the Linux version of Underworld Ascendant
28 August 2018 at 7:30 am UTC

Actually talking about Battletech, they did release an update recently about Linux:

Linux update: The team is still actively working on our Linux release. We hit a snafu with playback of audio (as in, “There’s no sound in the game”) but we’ve gotten support from an external party and appear to be back on track. We expect the Linux version to be available in Beta within the next few weeks.

We apologize to our Kickstarter Backers and to others waiting to play the game in Linux or their native language and we’re doing our best to get this work done as soon as possible. More details regarding localization can be found in this BATTLETECH Community thread.

Valve officially confirm a new version of 'Steam Play' which includes a modified version of Wine

This is amazeballs. It pretty much confirms a few conspiracy theories we all had, and its nice to finally hear some news from Valve.

I get that some people are worried about the future of Linux natives, but I see it as win-win. The publishers (like Bethesda) who never intended to support Linux - we can still play their games, if we want.

They can also see how many people are playing thru Proton, and if the numbers increase it may make them think twice about doing Linux natives.

The next release of DXVK for Vulkan-based D3D11 with Wine will use per-game configuration files

Quoting: GoldpawThe Blizzard app is 32bit, so you need both the 32bit and 64bit versions of DXVK for it to work. The other thing you need to do is to set the env DXVK_FAKE_DX10_SUPPORT=1 in the launch string.)

Just an FYI - this is from the "read more about it here" link above:

The following environment variables, which sometimes need to be set in order to run a game, will no longer be available:

What are you playing this weekend?

Quoting: GuestThis weekend i am replaying Witcher 3 for the 3rd time, first time on Linux, with Wine 3.13 and DXVK 0.63. I have to say, it runs pretty well all things considered. Speed is almost on par with Windows. Color me impressed.

Yeah I've been playing Witcher 3 as well. Thanks DXVK! Sure there are a few little things that don't display correctly, but sometimes its amusing.

Quantum Replica, a cyberpunk stealth and action game will support Linux after launch

I dunno about "fast paced" stealth. I like to take my time. But I am willing to try :)
