I'm really curious about this game, but I will wait the final release, I'm too busy and tired recently...
The problem of AFPS is that is too hard to find matches here in south America, people only plays CSGO/Valorant here.

Quoting: officernice2 hours in and... it's okay. Reminds me a bit of Ballistic Overkill in terms of overall quality. The maps are okay, the UI is a bit meh. Cosmetics... meh. Outside of the portals the gameplay is just standard FPS. Not much to note with the weapons either for me. I'd still take TF2 and Quake over this. Too bad QC was borked with the latest update... One thing I think all these new FPS games need, Quake included, is a map editor and the ability to run your own servers. You need all the leeway you need to compete with other shooters.Looks like they fixed QC

To be honest, I don't get why they put AC on QC, the player base isn't that huge and the skill level is high.
I'm really curious to see if they caught some cheater

This is so amazing, for real. Some points:
* Proton in my experience is already better than a lot of native ports.
* Amazing that they choose Arch to rebase it, as it uses AMD, it really need a RR distro.
* I hope that they release soon the OS to install, I'll install it in dual boot as soon it releases
* I'm really curious to see how they will make AC work on Linux, I think that they will use a custom kernel with some proprietary pieces. But tbh, I'm all in.

Solus is a fantastic distro, beautiful, stable, it boots and get ready to use really fast, I used it for some weeks in a time which I was "distro hopping"(I ended sticking to OpenSUSE until today), the only problem is that I had a worse gaming performance on it, no idea why.

Unlike other game engine reimplementations (OpenMW, openXcom, OpenRA, CorsixTH and so on), this isn't exactly "clean" in comparison which is why it's much more of a grey area.Just a curiosity, what make it "dirty" in comparison? Is it because of the reverse engineering method?

A fun fact is that AMD is "winning" with the openess of their projects, freesync for example. I hope that amd continues with this ideology even with the market share growing.
I read some early reviews and it's only good things about, free performance for everyone.

Some games don't even runs on newer version of a distro, I had issues in the past with Ubuntu that a game needs an outdated libraries, so I made a lot of links to bypassing, but in the end the game ran but crashed.

Quoting: GuestIsn't a myth, if you play GoG games you will probably find some barriers if you don't use Ubuntu.Quoting: fagnerlnEven with Linux on every PC, Proton fixes one of the bigger annoyance of Linux: Fragmentation.I daresay that the whole fragmentation thing is a bit of a myth. For the vast, vast majority of games they ran on any distro, or could easily be made to do so.
"Proton" doesn't really solve a technical issue. It solves a customer experience one.

OMG! Clash of Heroes!!!
I LOVE THIS GAME. Seriously, I try to play it frequently with a reeeeally small hope. Now I can finish it again...
Now the only game on my library that I miss and don't run on proton is F1 Race Stars.

OpenGL over Vulkan driver Zink gets a huge performance boost

I love the comic in the blog post.
Zink is a nice project, but it looks like a proof of concept than anything else.
I mean, OGL is by far the most supported API, looks like nowadays is not that hard to implement it on hardware. It will be used even less in favor of vulkan, so hardly will receive a nice new feature that vendors needs to update drivers.
It's hard to imagine that Zink will do a miracle, it will hit the Ogl limitation sooner or later.
AMD could benefit from this because it had a worse support in the past, but Mesa already improved it.
The only reason is if they want to deprecate drivers, or newer hardware only support Vulkan, which tbh, don't make much sense.
