I just looked on the steam store. It's 95% off right now if any one is thinking of getting it (U.S.A.)

Quoting: coryrj19951I have one, but my network was never good enough to actually use it. Although about a week ago I did install RetroArch on the hardware and it has gotten some use that way :P

I like mine. Don't get to use it much as I kept having trouble with the steam controller.
I kinda figured a software solution would replace it eventually, just never thought it would be an Android app. Hopefully they expand it to other platforms so the rest of us can use it.
The link was an interesting idea.

You mean like Kerbal Space Program? There's also Children of a Dead Earth (but it's Windows) if you want something more military focused.
I like the idea, but ultimately it would be very different than a shooter. Once a course is set, and dV spent, that's it. That's why so many of the old sci-fi stories focused on the people, because there's very little "space" action. Maybe more RPG in focus?
Edit: ya know, in my head, I keep thinking Oregon Trail in space. Sounds fun

I'd say the point of the games, 2D vs. 3D, are very different. The 2D space game I have played, well, space is just a "setting" and less of a mechanic or impetus for playing. Transcendence is NetHack in a space setting. Escape Velocity, is more a top down RPG. Actually, it seems like a lot of them are RPG's or RTS's.
I will add, that two of my most memorable gaming moments growing up were 3D games. One specifically, X-Wing, was a 3D space shooter. So I can't say 3D is worse or more boring than 2D when done right.

There's a long long list of 2D space the games that are great (Escape Velocity, Endless Sky, Trancendence...). The focus isn't as much on the space part, more on the story/mechanics. If you want 3D, there's other space focused games that make great use of the 3rd dimension (Kerb Space Program, X, Children of a Dead Earth...).
I bought this years ago. Great game. Kinda been waiting for it to near completion before I play again.

System76 reveal the Thelio, their new custom-built Linux desktop with three versions

So, I built a "decent" base system on their website. i-9600K, RX580. 32BG ram, 500GB NVME, monitor, etc.... $2700 USD.
I then built a like and similar one on NewEgg. i-8600k, 1070Ti, 32GB ram, 500GB NVME, monitor, ... $1750 USD.
I know I went cheaper with the processor, but more expensive with the graphics card. Unfortunately, it doesn't say what exactly most of the parts are, so I might have gone much lower in quality than what system76 used.
I just saw minimaul's post with the materials, list. My guesses were pretty close (itx, H370 motherboard. I picked an Asrock instead of Gigabyte and an EVGA 650W instead of FSP 600W power supply). Sadly, they didn't list their heatsink supplier. I'm really curious as ITX cases can be really rough trying to fit in a normal cooler. I used a noctuna NHc-14S as the beefier DH-15 was 5mm too tall to fit in my selected case for this test build.
On the other hand, I suppose they can use any size cooler they want as the case is custom. And man, it looks nice. I like the wood look. It kinda makes me want to make my own wooden case, but that would probably be a horrible idea.

Sad, I'll admit I did the kickstarter. I've never played because I wanted to wait until it was "finished". I agree with Kaiman; the continual asking for more money was a huge turn off. I'm still waiting for a fun, original open world RPG for linux (like Morrowind), I guess I'll be waiting much longer.
ps, I do know about openMW Engine project, I'm excited for it, but I'm also hoping for a new, modern, original RPG.

Looks interesting. For some reason, it kinda evokes a Dominions vibe, but in RPG form. I like the controller support option. The steam reviews look good too. Has any one here tried it. I'm very curious about it
