A statement from HOF Studios about the Depth of Extinction Steam key removal, plus thoughts

I agree, people make mistakes. And with life on the internet, things can be especially hard. And with the key restored and the apology everything with regard to the dev is good now in my opinion. What will last longer is the discussion about keys, ownership and how easy it should be to have it taken away.

companies do it all the time if a player does something like say cheating in a game. I quite agree with you though.
I don't recall seeing that. They take away access to an online service, but they don't invalidate your key.

It actually makes perfect sense. If someone buys keys with stolen credit cards and tries to resell them, or maybe it's just review/testing keys for limited time period. As I already mentioned, I dont think this can happen on Steam bought games. This was the case of a game activated with a key that the person got from the dev via email.
I'm not saying there shouldn't be an option to have keys revoked that were not legally paid. But the dev there's no reason for a dev to be able to do that on their own.

The only "problem" with these games is that the fun you have is fully dependent on the group of people that is in them. A month ago I played this for five hours and had a blast. A week later I had flee a game because of the exceedingly juvenile behaviour of some of the players (even though the streamer that streamed it was fine). One or two bad apples can ruin the experience entirely.

Quoting: kibblesProton came out and I only had about two games to test it with since I only buy linux native ports. Luckily one of them was DOOM, just couldn't pass that one up. I waited and waited for feral to port it and finally caved. Great game, feral really missed some sweet sweet $ with that one...
It's not like Feral can just say to them that they are going to do that. They need permission. And this is Bethesda, they'll never give it. And to show my support for their rigidity, I'll never buy anything that benefits them.

Dude, I find that somewhat hard to believe... but I'll take your word for it.
I suppose it depends on where you measure the fps. Get 55 to 60 driving through the empty desert looks nice, but it can still drop to 15 inside the camps.

Although he says in partnership with codeweavers instead of Valve... interesting.
Codeweavers are the big Wine contributors, so it does fit nicely for direct Wine work. As for what "official" means in that regard is not really clear. Also not important.

Eternum EX, a retro-inspired action platformer comes to Linux this month

Nice to see a pixel graphics game include a crt shader. Makes it look a bit more natural than the hard square pixels. But that may be my age showing. :D Can't say much about the gameplay. The graphics are a bit weird though. Enemies look good, but the backgrounds are a bit dull. Which would be fair if it was actually retro, but the colour/shading makes it look modern. Feels weird.

Quoting: GuestIt would be nice if they ported their old OpenGl games to Vulkan. And also finish up their buggy vulkan renderer in Mad Max.
Deus Ex Mankind Divided would probably see significant gains by switching to vulkan.
I played through Madmax entirely on Vulkan and only encountered a few minor issues. Wouldn't exactly call that buggy.

It might help for Deus Ex though. That's probably the most system hungry game they did so far and the only one that is unplayable for me on 3440x1440. That said, it is especially hard on the GPU, so not sure if it would help that much for my particular case.
