For now, the experimental Linux (and Mac) port of ARMA 3 will not see any more updates

Quoting: EhvisSo how would eON do that? Seeing as that effectively wraps the Windows binary as well.
As rea887 mentions, Battleye runs natively on Linux and Arma 3 runs via eON. Bohemia could do the same type of port if they wanted using Proton or Wine so as long as Proton or Wine runs Arma 3 well which I'm not sure as I haven't looked. It would just take some collaboration with the folks at Battleye I'd imagine.
eON does not use the source code, only a Windows binary. There's no way to get the Linux version compiled in there. Since BattlEye should catch any kind of tampering, I'm wondering how VP managed this.

Quoting: Xaero_VincentWell considering they were using Virtual Programming, which likely uses their eON tech, I wonder how the "port" compares to Proton 3.16 and Wine 4.0rc with the lastest DXVK. Seeing how some people are saying VP's MXGP3 port runs worse than Wine w/ DXVK.

If that's the case here too, might as well let the VP port die.
Well, ARMA 3 uses BattlEye so playing online is not likely to ever work with Steam Play.

NVIDIA driver 415.22 is out for Linux, finally adding Transform Feedback support

Quoting: GuestI just upgraded to 415.22 and also noticed the reported Vulkan version drop from 1.1.92 to 1.1.84. Can anyone shed some light on the downgrade and how it affects Transform Feedback which, as I understand, came in 1.1.88?
415.18.* are Vulkan Beta drivers specifically meant for bleeding edge Vulkan support. The stable drivers are usually a bit further behind. But it shouldn't matter for transform feedback since dxvk is the only thing that uses it.

Editorial: An open letter to Valve on why they should keep on embracing Linux

Quoting: mao_dze_dunActually, we have zero indication of this. I have absolutely no idea on what you're basing your assumptions, except for this one game, that was announced as a timed exclusive.
Epic are giving away Subnautica the coming weekend. Since it not reasonable to think that the dev is just giving away their game to promote the Epic store, it is Epic pulling their wallet to bring in people. If they do it for this game, they likely did it for others as well.

Have graphical distortions in Unity games with NVIDIA? Here's a workaround
10 Dec 2018 at 1:03 pm UTC Likes: 1

First time I actually see a screenshot from others. This exact problem occurs during the intro screen of Graveyard Keeper as well. Since the intro screen is black with a logo, the only thing affected is the steam overlay notification. Title/menu are unaffected, so there is no real problem with this game.

The interesting bit for me is that the distortion affects the steam overlay bit. Combine that with the top screenshot which shows the game screen that is under the text box, it looks like an issue with the way overlays are used in Unity games.

Quoting: mao_dze_dunThere are tons of Steam only games. Why is all of a sudden Epic evil for having 3rd party esxclusives?
That's not really true. Steam keys are sold everywhere and as I understand it Valve doesn't get its 30% for a key activation. Other than that, I don't think Valve have ever looked for store exclusive. But that may be more due to the fact that they had a long head start over every other store.

Valve have some serious competition, with the Epic Games Store being announced
9 Dec 2018 at 9:38 pm UTC

Quoting: ShmerlSo the store is out. Does anyone know if they provide any DRM-free options in GOG / itch.io style? I.e. downloadable packages that don't require any client?

I was asking around, and no one seems to know.
Do they actually sell anything right now? When they opened, everything was on "coming soon". That said, I seriously doubt you'll be able to do anything without the Epic Launcher.

Quoting: XpanderHandling is pretty trash for this game, the procedural generated tracks while interesting idea are more repeative than real tracks. Road surfaces are boring(not many bumps and holes and so on)

i mean it probably is fine game for some money, but for the asking price of 55€, naah pass.
Yeah, I got the impression that this is more for an audience that likes a less punishing sort of racer. Plenty of those around I suppose.

I wasn't actually expecting this one. Release would be almost two years after the original, which is a bit on the late side.

Double Fine release the first official Psychonauts 2 trailer

I also have a confession to make, I have still never played Psychonauts. Am I mad? Should I seriously set time aside to play it?
Good question. I have it, but never bothered to actually try it.
