Quoting: constAlso - Videos with english audio are a big improvement to videos not playing at all or even crashing the game. I personally still wonder why they wouldn't just use gstreamer if available, but well...
I imagine that doing that for the default Steam Deck may be as legally problematic as distributing MF libraries.
Bindings to gstreamer itself wouldn't be the problem and Proton isn't only on SteamDeck. Current behavior could still be the default, but if users install additional codecs, there's no reason not to use them.
The whole codec situation is messy. They probably found a good enough solution that still lacks a litte in execution.
I specifically mentioned the default Steam Deck because they can't install an unlicenced codec on there. And since only a fraction of the people would try to get one themselves, it's not an option for the Steam Deck.

Quoting: EhvisThe price difference between Humble and Steam is a bit silly. But doing a native port for the Steam deck and Linux is definitely something I want to support.
It's also kind of silly that on Humble the base game is exactly the same price as the "Warrior Edition" bundle with the OST and the two content DLC. But of course both editions are much cheaper on Steam with the discount.
A quick look at steamdb reveals that the price of the game was reduced back in August from 30 euro to 20 euro, so Humble probably still has the old price.

It also reveals that the DLC, which are not available for Linux according to the store, have no depots. This means that everything must already be included in the base game download. This might mean that they are available they simply forgot to update the store. No way to be sure unless you try though.

Nice. Last night I went through my library to remove a bunch of "windows" tags from games. Looks like I need to do it again. Not complaining though.

In that case, poetry isn't enough!

Seriously though. It looks like they have every intention to continue with the HL universe. And I don't think that will only be VR games that follow Alyx.

Blast from the past. I remember Supaplex as the first game that managed a smooth scrolling level on a standard VGA PC. I also remember that it was not easy.

It seems I already have the first four, so I only need to get the last one to complete it. I should put this on my Steam Deck list. Lazy chair out in the garden with a cold beer.
