The Vulkan API spec has been updated again, now at its 34th revision since release

My single most anticipated game for Vulkan support is the new Unreal Tournament.

'Devil Daggers' is one of my biggest surprises this year for Linux gaming

A little advice to all playing this game, since once I learned about this mechanic it seriously boosted my scores I thought I'd share.
Daggers upgrade the more gems you collect but the trick is that you don't collect gems while shooting. You have to stop shooting occasionally for the gems to fly toward you.
(also the big spider guys eat your gems, so people typically say to kill them first)

The game gets so crazy that it's easy to just hold down fire non-stop and it just makes the game harder and harder because you're not getting the upgrades you need. I think it's a pretty fun and clever mechanic, but it isn't really ever explained.

Atomic Space Command, build a ship and take it into battle online

Can other players play the role of the ships crew? Would be really fun to help control a ship built by one of your friends and go up against a few other ship crews.

Neil deGrasse Tyson Presents 'Space Odyssey', will feature Linux support

Wow, I'm pretty hyped for this now and I don't even know what to expect.

Based on the fact that he admires Carl Sagan and picked up his torch with "Cosmos" which was made for the purpose of inspiring younger generations of scientists by showing them the beauty of natural law, I would go out on a limb here and guess that he wants to do the exact same thing with this game, and that excites me.

It could be something that would appeal to a different kind of audience than your average gamer, and due to his fame I think he's in a unique position to try and pull off something new and beautiful that other game developers wouldn't be able to sell.

Devil Daggers, a very highly rated fast-paced shooter should come to Linux soon

Awesome. I was actually going to buy this a while back until I realized it didn't have a Linux version.

Natural Selection 2 is finally taking steps towards 64bit with a new patch

Quoting: CorbenWell, reminds me a bit of the Windows <-> Linux situation ;)
Of course this is a bit different, but nevertheless:
"Why no Linux?"
"Here's a good example: [Link to Linux marketshare]"
Only because a few people are using it, shouldn't be the reason to not support it. We also don't let that argument count, do we? ;)
It does count though. Not supporting Linux because its market share is too low has always been a valid reason. The only thing I blame is occasional ignorance on some issues, and mostly I blame gamers themselves for not caring more about their computing environment enough to realize how absolutely garbage windows is.

Who is fighting for us to switch to 32-bit though? As far as I know everyone still using 32-bit isn't really doing so by choice.
Not to mention that if we go by the numbers in that link the percentage of 32-bit Linux users among us is about 1000 times smaller than the percentage of Linux to Windows users.

Stellar Overload (previously named Planets³) has released an experimental UE4 Linux build, looks very cool

This looks great.
I was a bit disappointed when Voxelnauts tanked, but this looks pretty similar. I'll probably be buying it soon.

ARK: Survival Evolved gains a paid DLC while still being in Early Access, reviews are destroying it
9 Sep 2016 at 3:22 am UTC

Quoting: SalvatosI can't say I care if every developer starts doing the same thing. If they've proven themselves and the content looks interesting and decently-priced I'll buy it. If not I'll wait for release and/or stick to the core content. Nothing worth getting my panties in a twist here.
I think peoples view on DLC depends quite a bit on whether they primarily prefer single player or multiplayer games.
If you think like a solo player DLC is a fairly simple equation. You pay as much as you want to get the game experience you want.

But dedicated multiplayer gamers are always going to be a tougher audience to sell on anything that allows players to pay to get a different experience than other players, especially so in RPG type games like this.
It's not just about money, it changes gameplay or has effect on size of playerbases, there's a whole bunch of variables that need to be considered.

So even if technically this one particular incident weren't a big deal you'd still get a lot of people that are afraid of letting it go unchecked.

Spacewars: Interstellar Empires, a turn-based tactical strategy MMO is coming to Linux this December
21 Aug 2016 at 12:26 am UTC

Funny, I've actually been thinking recently how a turn based MMO game in which you made short moves throughout the day could remove the problem some players face with time restrictions giving them a disadvantage. You could have all players characters be in-game at all times.

I don't know if that's exactly how this game will work or not, but if they can pull off something similar I think it could be really fun.

BrainBread 2, an utterly ridiculous Source engine powered FPS is now free on Steam with Linux support

I actually just looked this mod up a month or two ago because I remembered playing the original which was really fun. For some reason I thought it was much further away from being playable.
Glad to see I was wrong, I'll definitely have to check this out now.
