Supraland is leaving GOG after less than a year, dev says sales were low

Quoting: ShmerlNot automatic, but lgogdownlader handles incremental updates.
What do you mean by that? It doesn't update installed games, does it?

Editorial: On paying for Linux games when you already have a Windows version

Quoting: liamdaweI'm not specifically advocating for paying twice if you already own it, the point is to have the ability to pay something, if the developer/publisher so chooses.
But this something should not be added on top of original platform's price. If the game was being sold $60 on Win and the port comes out then it should cost the same 60$ for whoever buying it first time and 10$ for whoever already owns it. Obviously, you wouldn't get Win version if you buy it for 60$ on Linux.

Although, I do agree it's a very grey area since there is no point in not giving Windows version for free, if the game is several months old. But I really don't want the precedent in buying the game first time and paying extra for a port. If anything, I shouldn't pay for Windows binaries.

Mesa 17.1 release is now scheduled for May

Quoting: TheRiddickThe nouveau drivers are making progress and once NVIDIA is pushed into releasing the appropriate firmware files then it will likely perform extremely competitively VS MESA once that happens, this can be shown in the 500 or 600 series results with the driver as those have the full firmware files to allow reclocking et al.
Except reclocking/power management on 500/600 isn't automatic at all, which makes it useless for everyday 3d use.

Serious Sam 3: BFE with the 'Fusion' engine and Vulkan could arrive next month in Beta

Desiring games to appear on GOG is obviously about DRM side of things since they have a strict policy about that. I don't care what store Talos Principle or Serious Sam will be released on, but I want it DRM-free.

Quoting: ShmerlAre Croteam reading these comments? I still encourage them to release their games on GOG. What they have their now are only a few old games.
I concur. I can't see any indication why they aren't doing it. If they're interested in changing engines for the older games, why can't they drm-free them. Talos Principle really hurts for me, that's the game I always wanted to play.

A guide to crowdfunding games and the risks involved, the Linux edition

Were there any video game kickstarters that needed funding for a freeware release? Just curious, because it'd be more about art and not business.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance may not come to Linux at all, more bad news

Quoting: ExpalphalogI really don't understand why these things are still allowed to happen. Crowd-funding fraud has happened enough times now that I am surprised regulatory laws haven't caught up yet.
Because you're not buying anything. At KS's popularity surge pledging/donating became sort of pre-ordering, which is the main problem since expectations are different. But when even plain pre-orders is a marketing tool now, treating KS pledges simillary bound to have problems.

Concerning DAL(DC) support on AMD. It looks like AMD's latest code wasn't accepted in the mainline linux.

Above the comments box is a slider for submitting minor grammar and spelling mistakes. Please use that instead of the comments. This way we can keep the actual article comments clear and hopefully more on-point. This also means if I make a real boo-boo (like when I said shit instead of shut in a title, oops) and I’m not around other editors will see it.
I have it under the comments, which means I need to scroll all comments down before I submit grammar mistake.
