I've picked it up. Thanks to the dev for getting this out quick.

The curious tale of vanishing Linux & SteamOS ports, a status on a few of them

Quoting: ShugyoushaCount me to the ones waiting for Street Fighter V. At least I have not yet bought it but I would love to give them my money as soon as the Linux version is out.

Capcom officially (on Twitter?) confirmed that a SteamOS version is in the works so I don't think they can talk themselves that easily out of that. What makes me somewhat worried though is that Sony is the main sponsor of Street Fighter V (apparently with out their money it would not have been made). Since SteamOS can be considered a console-like experience, maybe Sony does not want it to be ported after all...
Waiting on them too. They get it out, i'm buying.

Black Mesa developer shoots down anti-Linux troll, confirms Linux version is in progress

LMAO, meraco is sometimes a source of golden remarks, maybe we should make that our new slogan.
LOL Liam. It's true that no form of publicity is bad publicity.

But i personally find his behavior disgusting tbh. I don't even consider him a troll anymore.

If someone, stands on his or her head, to try and deny others from adopting or exploring something, i feel that it's childish behavior. It's like trying to prevent knowledge sharing just to keep your own cookies in the jar. It goes against the whole concept of open source software.

It's probably why so many people take issue with his behavior. They find it disgusting too.

To everyone : Liam's article did primarily state that he's happy to see such a port with Meraco being a side mention so don't slam him for his expression of personal opinion.

I ignore him. While he has changed his tunes at certain times especially when he has been beaten by someone at his own game, he does actively look for threads and has told Developers on multiple occasions that they should NOT make ports even when for some games, the ports have already been announced by the devs.

I repeat this. He tells the devs WHY they should NOT make ports. I've never seen him do this for any of the other platforms he claims to be using.

That being said, I support Liam and his article. I think that there is no issue with him mentioning this particular troll. He's so well known for his antics that he didn't even need an introduction. Not a single one of you even asked who he is or seemed not to have some knowledge of him. Infamy comes with the level of trolling he engages in.

PS : Meraco calls this site the Linux hype site. I've never seen Liam posts any facts or even fiction that hypes up Linux based software distributions.

THIS IS A LINUX HYPE SITE -------> http://www.whylinuxisbetter.net/ [External Link]

Just do a search for Meraco in the discussions section. Based on the default view, i get 45 pages worth of search results with every single one being associated with him trolling the Linux community. I've never seen him comment on anything other than such threads. Also, he admitted freely in this latest Black Mesa thread that his target isn't the community but instead, game critics and game devs.

If you want professionalism, I recommend www.redhat.com

It's different from the Fedora project.

That Meraco deserves to be derailed by his targets (the devs). On a side note, i'm looking forward to Black Mesa.

Nightdive Studios aren't sure when the Linux version of the System Shock remake will be available

It's a chicken and egg problem. There's no demo available for the Linux version and the stretch goal is at 1.1 million.

How do you expect Linux users, in all good faith, to back this?

They might end up with a version of the game they've never had the pleasure of trying beforehand that only runs on a platform they don't use.

It's silly and pointless. Make the demo available for us to test so that we can work towards your stretch goal at the very least.

Of course, Linux and OSX shouldn't even be stretch goals. Although OSX really needs more modern drivers.

Oh and asking for 1.1m without a guarantee of a day 1 release is a tad too much imo.

Definitely. I'm currently playing Stellaris and looking to pick up HoI4. Very supportive dev when it comes to our platform.

Actually, let me rephrase that. The proper platform should always have been open. So it's everyone's platform.
