Quoting: nattydreadI'll keep that in mind. Of course, I received all 3 in the Eye of the Beholder series at the same time. I always wanted to play them back then, but I didn't have a computer when they were popular (unless you count my old, broken Timex/Sinclair 1000, which the game didn't exist for). I thought about picking the first one up for a game console, but I never did.Quoting: CFWhitmanI also fooled around with Eye of the Beholder from the GOG sale recentlyIf you liked Eye of the beholder and Dungeon master also check out The Legend of Grimrock (native linux) and The Legend of Grimrock 2 (platinum proton) as they are more modern interpretations and just as good if not better.

Well, I finally finished Bioshock Infinite over a week ago now (though I have some DLC for this, but I'm not starting that yet; I will come back to it later). Oddly, since then, I played quite a bit of Dune II: The Battle for Arrakis on a Sega Genesis / Mega Drive emulator both on my computer and on the Raspberry Pi 3 hooked up to my TV (right now, I've got Kodi, RetroPie, and the Steam Link application on that, so it's a pretty handy entertainment device). I'm probably about done with that again for now, though I started a new game of Super Metroid on the SNES emulator on the Pi as well, and I might be tempted to go back to it. Yes, sometimes I waste time on the time sinks of my younger days even with new games piling up in my Steam library.
I also fooled around with Eye of the Beholder from the GOG sale recently (along with some other ancient RPGs), which I never played before, but which, as expected, is reminiscent of Dungeon Master: Theron's Quest which I did play through on the TurboGrafx / PC Engine Super CD back in the day, and to a lesser degree Shining in the Darkness on the Genesis / Mega Drive (I had a lot of fun back then playing and mapping out the dungeons in that game).
The Braid announcement has got me considering playing through the original game (which I've never played, though I got it in a Humble Bundle long ago), and I have Salt and Sanctuary that I looked at a little, but didn't get really going on yet. And of course there is always that towering burden of the rest of my back catalogue of games.

Quoting: appetrosyanSadly, I’m trying to get my COMPUTER to resurrect. Dead PSU.That's always a little scary. More often than not, you replace the PSU and you're back up and running. However, sometimes you discover that the PSU took your motherboard and your CPU with it when it went. That's why I try never to skimp on my power supplies. I hope it works out well for you.
Quoting: CatKillerAs I understand it, Windows support for the PS3 controller was really inadequate compared to the Linux support for it, and Microsoft were pushing the Xbox controller as the One True "Standard" for controllers on Windows, so it makes sense that that's what they were lazy about.Yes, I found that fascinating when I discovered it (that PS3 controllers didn't work right in Windows by default). It used to be that I would tend to pick up PS3 controllers for my computer because they just worked (since I was using Linux), and I still like to use PS3 wireless controllers on Raspberry Pi boards for the same reason. It used to be somewhat of a hassle to get Xbox controllers working right on Linux (though you could do it). Now Xbox controllers mostly just work (especially in Steam), so I get them for my computers sometimes. I only realized later that PS3 controllers didn't just work in Windows, and I was shocked and confused for a moment until I thought about the Windows/Xbox connection and Microsoft's ulterior motives for everything.

It certainly looks interesting. It could be really good; we'll just have to wait and see.

I got the original game in a Humble Bundle, but I've never gotten around to playing it from my back catalog. I've always intended to; it just hasn't happened yet. I know that it's supposed to be a classic, and I should have gotten around to playing it long before now. Maybe this will prompt me to move it up my list and get to it soon.
I wonder if there will be any discount on the new edition for owners of the original on Steam (or another service). I've seen discounted updates for owners of the original game before.

Vulnerability found in GRUB2 bootloader, nicknamed ‘BootHole’, compromising Secure Boot

I have dealt with a number of computers that included UEFI before Secure Boot was implemented. Many of the business laptops lacked a lot of possible features, but they did allow the UEFI boot method. My old desktop motherboard from home (which I still use as a second desktop in the cellar) has quite a full-featured UEFI implementation, but it predates Secure Boot.

Quoting: tuubiThere is also the Liquorix [External Link] kernel available as another alternative. I'm not recommending one over the other, just giving another option.Quoting: NasraAnyone have this issue with RadeonSi driver with a navi card (RX5500XT) ?I haven't seen any visual corruption in OpenGL games/apps with my RX 5700XT, if that helps. I'm using Kisak's Mesa packages as well.
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/3323 [External Link]
Seeing as the 5500XT is a slightly more recent chip, maybe try upgrading your kernel? Plenty of Navi fixes have gone in since Linux 5.4. Mainline [External Link] makes it easy to try Ubuntu's mainline kernels if Pop!_OS doesn't provide one.

Quoting: AzPVulkan is already implemented on Mac OS via Metal, using the layer that comes with the VulkanAPI installer.I suspect that he was referring to the same layer that you are, MoltenVK. I think his point was that, though he doesn't have any information about when a Vulkan renderer would be released, it seems like the MacOS version would be more likely to rely on MoltenVK than any other approach, which would mean that the Vulkan renderer would have to be implemented as well for the MacOS version to be released (much more likely than a separate Metal renderer being developed).
At work, we run the same Vulkan code on both Windows and iOS, without issues.
Retro Commander is an upcoming classic RTS that looks promising

My RTS experience started with Dune II on the Sega Genesis. My one younger brother thought that I, another brother, and our nephew were nuts for playing that game so much because of the unimpressive nature of the graphics, but he was eventually roped in by Warcraft II and Starcraft. Part of me still likes the simplicity of Dune II compared to what came later, and I admit that I've played it through emulation since (though Flashback seems to be my biggest Genesis emulation weakness). This looks like it could be interesting for a fan of old RTS games like me.

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU from a Vega 56 when the RDNA2 cards come out. We'll see how practical it is at the time.

I have finally finished The Talos Principle. By the time I finished it, I had pretty much had my fill of it. Don't get me wrong; some of the puzzles are really great, but others had gotten kind of old.
Now I just have to finish Bioshock Infinite, and I can move on to other games.
Except, of course for all the other things I have to do, which will take much of my time. I'm obligated to practice and record a part on the ocarina for a virtual music performance that will be mixed recordings of each member of our group alone since we can't meet together right now (I'm the only ocarina player; the others use more conventional instruments). Getting the piece right and then a properly timed recording will be fun since I've never done that kind of recording. I guess I should be thankful since I only have to learn one or two pieces of music instead of a dozen like usual.
