Shadowrun Returns RPG To Go DRM Free

An interesting new option is called itch.io [External Link], which emerged sometime in August. Their FAQ [External Link] and blog [External Link]. Apparently their fees are a bit higher than the widget, 10% instead of 5%, but fees are not active yet, so indies on it are currently just using it for free. They produce an embeddable widget, clearly inspired heavily by the Humble Widget (scroll down on this game to see the widget in action, below the Humble one [External Link], and a couple of examples [External Link] of full pages for games hosted on the store [External Link]).
Methinks that this "itch.io" might be one to add to the sales page.

Quoting: Quote from HamishJust get a Humble Widget on your main page.Yes, clean and simple. Very useful, especially for indies.

It's great to know that the game will have a life of broad distribution. I'm pretty happy to have this news! The game isn't perfect by any means, but it delivers an experience pretty close to what I was expecting, and goes a bit beyond by bringing Linux folks the mod tools (which we pushed really hard for, but they never promised... just told us they'd try, and see how it works out). I'm personally quite happy with the game, and am really enjoying the combat system.
My only complaints (since I didn't really get bitten by the checkpointed saves) were that Physical Adepts were severely under-powered. Now, they're pretty much the badasses I remember they should be. In fact, they're OP according to a few forum commentors, but I'm certainly not going to complain that the (essentially) monk/ninja class is finally a strong class in an RPG. I'm used to them being pretty miserable to play until you've leveled a LOT, so the PhsAd path on SR:R is a welcome change.
The future of this game is going to live or die on community content, so I hope this move toward inclusiveness has the consequence of growing the player community and leads to more high-quality mods. There are several huge and elaborate ones already in the works, and I'd like to see that trend continue :-)

Quoting: Quote from zikzakUnfortunately GOG.com doesn't supply GNU/Linux binaries.Or really, anywhere. Direct on their own page, Desura, Gameolith, Shinyloot, etc. would be better than not offering us something to buy without DRM.
Let's hope they'll consider the humblestore too.
Trilobyte Games Announces The 7th Guest: 3 On Kickstarter

Agreed, and they fixed the FAQ reply, likely due to Liam's prodding:
The 7th Guest 3 will be developed and eventually be available on all viable platforms including, but not limited to, iOS, Android, PC, Mac, Linux, Steam and a dedicated game console to be named later. So, that bodes well. I wonder how hard it would be to get them to sell the DOS version of The 11th Hour (there was one, right?) directly off of their website, on Desura, or via Humble widget. That would at least give us easy DOSBox play.

Damn, I thought I escaped this game... I guess it'll suck me back in again! Must be the undocumented "black hole" mechanic!

Aside from Rob's caution, the tier descriptions stated Linux as a reward from day 1. He basically must have made a mistake in that FAQ reply, despite having the tiers arranged correctly, and should probably go fix that answer.

Quoting: Quote from MaximBGood news, but this game cost a fortune ($60), although now for a limited time you can get it for "only" $45).Yeah, we're definitely spoiled by the stream of cool $15 indie games we've enjoyed for a few years now :)
Shame the AAA titles cost THAT much.

Still looks really pretty!
Their budget has diminished on each campaign; I can't help but think that the team has had to make some pretty tough sacrifices to get it to a point that will succeed on Kickstarter. Though, I do agree with adolson and Xodetaetl that it appears this attempt will succeed, though it is difficult to know by how much.
