Universe Sandbox 2 Released In Early Access With Linux Support
29 Aug 2015 at 2:21 pm UTC

Back in my dual-boot days, I bought the original. It was fun, but, IMHO, pretty limited. This version looks like the real deal, and it's on my wishlist. I have to make my Patreon payment to GOL before I can buy it :D.

What Have You Been Playing Recently, And What Do You Think About It?
24 Aug 2015 at 9:32 pm UTC

Dominions 4 (as usual) :D
KOTOR2 (Never played it, and some good fun is to be had) ^_^
Pandora: First Contact (Who needs CIV:BE?) :><:
Planetary Annihilation TITANS (Whew!) :woot:
Torchlight II (still)
FTL (just for the usual asskicking) :'(
Empire:Total War (Another of Feral's finest)

...none of which need any introduction (except Dominions 4, and you need a review from me. Real Soon Now).

Mordor chugs on my 650ti; time to upgrade to the 960. Also Real Soon Now.

Humble Bundle PC & Android 13 Launches, Good Selection
20 Aug 2015 at 3:50 am UTC Likes: 2

I had these three already, so here are some keys, first come, first served:

BeatBuddy: R8KBW-9CTB2-BHJLN

Fotonica: THAPR-560H4-QBIMT

TinyKeep: AL9TY-W55MB-NQZQF

If you use one, note it here so that nobody else wastes their time with a dead code.

Planetary Annihilation: TITANS, A Standalone Expansion For Planetary Annihilation
18 Aug 2015 at 11:41 pm UTC

I pointed out on the forums, after many posts whinging about EA backers not getting what KS backers (such as myself :D ) got, that KS backers paid on a promise of a game, while EA purchasers got a playable game which was pretty continually upgraded.

I feel just great about having this appear in my Steam library today, and the little "Thank You" box for having been a KS supporter made me smile. 3-4 years ago, I supported several KS games, and have certainly gotten my money's worth: Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, War for the Underworld, and others, and there's Torment coming out.

Yes, I'm one very happy penguin today.

DiRT Showdown Released For Linux Thanks To Virtual Programming, Some Thoughts
18 Aug 2015 at 12:58 pm UTC

As a non framerate-chaser, I'm happy with anything over 40 FPS. That said, it's distressing to see the poorer performance of Linux versus That Other OS.

Besides, if I suck at FPS (and I do :dizzy: ), I'm truly abysmal at racing games :'( .

The Current Humble Weekly Sale Is A Cracker For Linux
17 Aug 2015 at 4:43 pm UTC

Quoting: fizzgigThe Edge of Space devs stated in the Steam forums that they would like to support Linux later on. They just lack manpower to do this at the moment.
Which is why I did add it to my library. We'll see if they do support we penguins.

Absolute Drift Is A Weird Minimalistic 2D Car Drifting Sim For Linux, Two Keys Up For Grabs
17 Aug 2015 at 4:42 pm UTC

Gad. Don't I see enough car commercials with drifting? Now a game?

Yes, I'm a curmudgeon.

Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth Expansion Rising Tide New Trailer, Still A Day-1 Linux Release
17 Aug 2015 at 4:41 pm UTC

So, as a Pandora:First Contact player, I tried C:BE for the free weekend.

Meh. Uninstalled and it is not a purchase candidate. It's a CIV V clone, with little of Alpha Centauri's  charm, complexity or strategy. Even though P:FC is kicking my ass regularly, it's lower-priced, looks better. and is the true AC sequel.

IMHO  .

Nightside, The Awesome Traditional RTS Game Exits Early Access
7 Aug 2015 at 9:56 pm UTC

Purchased on sale, and downloading.

Yes, it's pretty aweome; I love the look (the music is less liked), and it's a bit Starcraft-ish. That is a good thing, of course...

Interview With The Developers Of Cossacks 3, Which Is Coming To Linux
6 Aug 2015 at 10:04 pm UTC

It certainly looks pretty awesome, and I'm pretty interested; Linux gamers still don't have enough choices in the RTS genre.

I suck at them too (you should see me at Planetary Annihilation), but I do like to play them.
