Quoting: jensThis is not what I said or implied to say. What I said was: _If_ you are angry or complaining that this game is unsupported on your graphic card, _then_ it seems you bought the wrong card. Please note the difference.Still is an ambiguous wording ^^
Quoting: jensPS: Don't you think that there is a lot of complaining and anger between the lines in a lot of comments in both threads about this title?I can understand that people feel frustrated about not being able to play a game they might like to play. We already have a first "segragation" whith games not available for "our" OS, then when the game is available for said OS and it's only available for those with hardware X or Z there can be complaints. While some will patiently wait and buy the game if/when it works on AMD cards (which is quite probable) others will make a loud statement that they will never buy it. Same with these saying they will never buy from Humble again because they've been bought by evil although nothing changed so far. There are pragmatics and revolutionaries, to each his own :D

I was just answering your "trollish" comment implying that Nvidia is the best and only option for Linux users. If I had to buy a graphics card again now I would make exactly the same choice. I'd rather get an AMD card for which AMD shows support to the Linux community with their open source efforts, rather than buy a card from Nvidia who has a negative position on that subject (not to mention customer abuse with their pricing, all of their proprietary s***t such as G-Sync et al, meant to enclose players with proprietary stuff).

Quoting: jensI'm not personnaly angry or mad or complain about the game not working fine with my graphics card manufacturer, I'll just be skipping it until it works or forever for that matter.Quoting: PompesdeskyYou mean those graphic cards that have a working open source driver right ?Yes, exactly these ones ;)
Don't get me wrong. It is really cool that AMD is getting into shape on Linux and it would be cool if Nvidia would move slightly into that direction too. But please just don't get angry or mad or complain that not everybody is jumping right now on that still experimental combination. It is perfectly fine that developers choose to support a stable stack only and one must not demand from them to do a lot of upstream work too. Time will heal. If you are an early adopter, very brave and cool, but expect that things are unsupported.
PS: Thinking about this, I don't like the headline of this thread at all. Of course it is fine to mention that support is limited for nvidia, but doing this that prominently in the headline immediately sets a specific tone :S:. Anyway, my gratitude to Aspyr/Bloober Team!

Quoting: jensBought this one, very cool! You mean those graphic cards that have a working open source driver right ?
PS: Is there actually anybody happy with this one next to me? I'm reading here and in the thread about this earlier today mostly complaints from people that apparently bought the wrong graphics card :(

Does simply putting an original game disc in one's PC drive work with the emulator ? That should be pretty legal I guess.

Quoting: M@GOidOn a rival? They are known to stuck a knife on their own clients. Ask Windows 7 users what they think about MS actions about Windows 10 down the throat upgrades. They are even known for sticking knives in their partners..... See them becoming hardware vendors (Surface, Surface Book, etc.) when they are selling their software to companies like HP, Lenovo and the others....

Payday 2 is the game I play the most regularily, it's my go to FPS to play with my Windows mates. Still very fun game.
I'm also playing Tomb Raider from time to time, I haven't finished it yet but it's really a nice game.
I stopped playing Dirt Rally 'cause I had to give up the wheel to the kids who play ETS2 quite a lot :D

Linux desktop market share hit an all time high in July, according to one measure

I don't get how the OS market share would relate so much on politics. In a capitalist market if a product is good it would be adopted so an open source software could compete with a closed source one as long as it offers a good service. Also Linux is not only community driven, it is also backed by large corporations. And go apply your logic to the server side of computing, where's the largest market share of the said large corporation ? See, no need for evil communism for Linux to succeed :D

Quoting: GuestSince capitalism is the current global economic system it is fitting that the OS's of large corporations takes the largest market share. It is thus impossible for community-driven OS's to take up larger share than what is shown in the statistics, I think.US citizen ?
In a pure socialist economy, all software would be open source and have a community-based development.

Cyberpunk horror game 'Observer' from Bloober Team & Aspyr Media will likely see a delayed Linux release

To me it's nice that they're already telling there'll be "some" delay. And then again I'm not going angry at once at a developer because the game is not on Linux day 1. Of course that'd be nice as well, but as long as we're not talking months after a Windows release I find that totally acceptable.

Quoting: TheRiddickAnother developer being silent about exactly the issues they are facing with Linux (like specific not generalizations). The only way to get a solution is to be vocal about the problem. Too many would-be Linux port developers have gone away silently instead of reaching out.Personnaly I don't think developers should always let everyone know what exact problems they are facing, it's nice to know but in fact it's none of our business. Maybe that's a trivial issue and they would get a backlash by being too open or who knows what.
