Looks and works great! The only two small things I've noticed so far are:

1. It is not possible to launch selected games in small mode by pressing Enter key.
2. Opening the Steam overlay in CS:GO causes the game to hang and/or crash.

we see a lot of value in it as a way of letting people run on Linux without the large investment on our end of releasing a native client

This mindset is one of the reasons why I am still not sure whether I am happy about the popularity of Valve Proton or not...

This is actually bad news. Activision is not a good company at all. They did countless bad things to Blizzard and other companies they own. The acquisition had a potential to change it for the better (and possibly bring Blizzard games to Steam :-)).

It looks like I have found a small regression. Some games do not detect the correct system language anymore when using Proton 8.0. Instead, they default to using English locale. But maybe this is somehow related to the Flatpak Steam I use or the new Sniper runtime.
