If console games can be given age ratings (PEGI) then I see no reason why it could not be done for PC.
What would be needed though is an age verification body e,g PEGI to carry out the work. The best way to do this is to give any unrated game an 18 cert until its been reviewed and given the appropriate age rating.
I think this is will likely spread to other jurisdictions and become more widespread over time.

Never ever have I visited the Epic games store and never ever will. I resented them when they took away Rocket league but when they started blackmailing publishers to rip games away from steam store foe exclusivity I vowed to never, ever touch that tripe of a company for as long as they are doing business.

Steam is going from strength to strength.
I did not expect to see Satisfactory on that list but I guess that is my fault:tongue: .and I guess many were waiting for the 1.0 release. I highly recommend playing this game however just be warned it is a time sink.

Last Epoch drops the Native Linux version, devs tell players to use Proton

This is becoming a common occurrence it would seem.
I do understand the reasoning for it as proton has become the better option. I recently decided to play Dirt Rally and was forced to use proton to get the game running as the native version is now completely broken. I am getting better reliability and performance using proton as well.
I think native builds will soon become a thing of the past until such a time that Linux market share grows to a big enough number to justify the extra work.

Modern digital games are loaded with "Always On DRM" and are at the mercy of the service provider. I don't buy any game that requires online access to play be it digital or physical.
I changed my purchasing habits after I lost over 100 digital movies when the big movie corps decided to shut down the "Ultraviolet" service hence why I now only buy physical disks. For Movies I just rip to MKV and the disks go into storage.
The only real alternative to physical media is GOG but choice is just so limited and not forgetting that they don't support the linux community either.

Quoting: emphyI have just checked the oldest disk that I have,(Theme Park) pressed in 1994 and the disk still works perfectly so from my perspective Physical media is ownership. I am not worried about DRM as it will always get cracked hence why piracy is so rampant.Quoting: finaldestHere we go again,True ownership has nothing to do with physical media: any drm-free game purchased digitally grants you more ownership than any disk (or even cartridge) release that comes preloaded with a phone-home-to-see-if-the-publisher-grants-permission-to-play check.
When will folks learn that physical media is the only true way to have ownership.
I know PC games generally don't get physical releases so I now buy PS4 and PS5 games when I want a copy to preserve. Most PlayStation games work offline without ever needing an update but PS5 does have a backup option built in.
I still primarily buy games on Steam but accept the risk I could lose games in the future. I will also be using GOG where possible to buy games I want to preserve as they offer a direct download of the installer.
I now have over 600 Movies and 30 PS4/5 Games on physical. I now refuse to just rely on 3rd parties with my media purchases.
Even this current case still allows you to get your eternally playable copy before they remove it - where the shutdown of a grant-permission-server would have blocked you from playing it in the future if this game had had drm restrictions.

Clearly foul play from EA.
I have just looked through my Library to discover I actually own (unspecified time rentals) 35 EA games inc this one. I must of acquired these games during steam sales as I have not played most of them. Would Valve still consider a refund if not played after 14 days?. I will no longer be purchasing any games published under the EA umbrella going forward.
Anyway they better not break Dirt Rally as I have just opened a huge can of worms getting into "sim racing" and are discovering the many pitfalls in relation to hardware support on Linux. Would welcome any purchase advice regarding Wheels, Frames etc. I do have a Logitec G29 but looking for a DD solution.

I am currently running a 5950x so dont need an upgrade but I am considering an upgrade to a 9950x. I will wait for reviews first and I might also wait and see if AMD announce a 9950 X3D SKU.
