EVERSPACE seems to be having more issues with Unreal Engine again with Linux support

This is really too, too bad. I was looking forward most to this game of ANY game on Linux. I'm pulling for you, guys! Make it so!

Ballistic Overkill is one Unity title that may see an update with Vulkan

Agreed. Vulkan is moving faster than I thought too. I even saw some 2017 editorial predictions online that it was going to be one of the year's big flops, and everyone would ignore it. Happily, not true so far...

LiquidSky, the 'PC in the Cloud' gaming service will support Linux

I've been using LiquidSky on Linux and paying for it, both on my Chromebooks via Linux (!!) and via my Mint-on-Steam-Machine rig. It's basically a Wine wrapper to the PC client, but I've found it to be wonderful. I have fast in home internet (90-135 Mbps) and it's been butter smooth playing titles at 1080p at full details with no discernible lag.

Being as devoted to Linux gaming as I am, what do I use it for? Space sim titles, which just really don't exist on Linux. Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, Empire of the Dying Sun (totally underappreciated, BTW), and Angels Fall First. None have Linux versions or run (yet) via Wine.

I think this is really the future of gaming, and I think it's great for Linux. It removes the need for super pricey gaming hardware and zillions of drivers and compatibilities. It doesn't matter what % of platforms we are. Just developers aiming for a Windows backbone that can be streamed by everyone. Use the DE you want. Android, Chrome OS, iOS, Windows, Linux, Mac... Doesn't matter.

I'm a big fan.

Sudden Strike 4 looks like an amazing RTS that will have Linux support

Quoting: KeyrockI'm not a RTS player, on account of sucking HORRIBLY at them (I'm terrible at real-time micromanaging), but it's great to see more games like this on the penguin.

Agreed, I'm bad at these too and have avoided them for years as a result, but this looked seriously impressive and I might be tempted, if for no other reason than to support the day 1 Linux release (love Linux listed at the end of the trailer too).

Avorion, a procedural co-op space sandbox is now on Linux and it looks awesome

Looks really fun and interesting. I look forward to hearing more, as the Linux gaming scene can use all the space sims we can get!

Imperium Galactica II: Alliances released for Linux & SteamOS, seems native too

@Teodosio: As a casual gamer looking to get into my first space strategy title who has never played IG2, I'm just curious what aspects of the gameplay you consider outdated? And which modern Linux space game you'd recommend instead? Thanks!

Helium Rain, a realistic UE4 space simulation game is coming to Linux in 2017, looks brilliant

Wow, very interesting. The Linux platform needs more space sims, absolutely. At the fear of pigeonholing, this looks more in the vein of the prior X3 (or as someone else mentioned, Pioneer) in that the main focus is on the economics and trading, rather than combat and exploration (like Elite Dangerous). I can't wait to buy and try. Best of all good things to the developer, who seems like they're already quite far along.

The developers of 'EVERSPACE' are still working on the Linux version, seeking help from Epic Games

I've been watching and hugely looking forward to this for a while. There are so few space combat games on Linux, this will be quite welcome. I've been just replaying through Strike Suit Zero just to scratch the itch. I wish them well. My money awaits...

Oolite 1.84 released, the open source open-world Elite-like game is maturing

How does this version compare to the Pioneer fork?

I wondered about the Chrome OS effect too, as it was my gateway to Linux. Playing around with Linux and seeing what it had to offer was so easy and calamity free on a Chromebook. Intrigue about Elementary OS drew me in, and now I'm a daily Gallium OS user (Linux distro designed for Chromebooks). With millions of more CB's being sold each year, Android support coming, and tons of students playing around with them in schools, I'm sure some fraction of those folks will try a Linux install...
