Aspyr Media state they are looking at ways to improve Civilization VI performance on Linux

Quoting: barottoRight now Civ6 uses 1 thread. I have a 4 cores cpu, this means that only 1 core is being used. This also means that fans are not spinning and I can play in complete silence!
Yes, it's a bit jerky at times, but in a game like this I value the lack of noise much more than 60fps.
If the load is effectively distributed over your four cores, each core will be able to run at a lower frequency, and heat/power usage scales exponentially with clock speed... as soulsource said, use a frame limiter and it would run fanless but even cooler temp-wise.

Feral Interactive are teasing a new Linux port again

Quoting: sasannGreat. Another sub-par, Nvidia only port. Pass.
Could you point to another porting company that consistently does a significantly better job than Feral? I can't.
Plus, and you have to admit this, games not supporting AMD on Linux has been due to the pitiful state of AMD drivers. Now that RadeonSI actually has OpenGL 4.5 support (which came out almost 2.5 years ago, mind you), Feral has retroactively been adding official AMD support on older games. But until AMD has solid, relatively bug-free implementations of all of OpenGL and Vulkan, it's unreasonable to expect that they support AMD.

The new Hitman game looks quite good... if it comes out with AMD support I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

Quoting: finaldestI have been keeping a close eye on this as I really wanted a RX480 but chose to go with a 1070 due to driver support. So I would like to thank all involved who are working hard to improve the drivers.

The AMD drivers have been progressing very well recently so I really am looking to put a VEGA gpu into my new ZEN build once released. I may just have a full AMD system soon if all goes well.
Don't count on it. I know there's a lot of hype and excitement around AMD, but my "upgrade" from a 660 Ti to an RX 480 is regression in half the games I want to play, and a headache in plenty of others. The situation may change now that they can focus on optimizations rather than just getting games to run at all, but for the foreseeable future NVIDIA is still a much better choice.

Quoting: GuestI went to try your Antergos and it failed to boot after installing twice.
Same. On my Chromebook it never finishes the install and on my desktop it doesn't correctly connect to the university's ethernet so I can't install it.

I hope this fixes the messed up textures for morale/siege bars in EU4 and CK2

EDIT: It doesn't :-(

Mesa 13.03? When did they switch from AMDGPU-PRO?

Here’s some interesting answers from Gabe Newell and Valve from the reddit AMA

My questions weren't answered either, but I emailed them to Gabe and hopefully I'll have a response by the end of the week to share with you guys. I hear he's good about responding to emails.

Exclusive: Civilization VI now fully confirmed to be coming for SteamOS & Linux and soon too

No rush for this to come out, since I'm not buying it until the next Steam sale.
