@Solar
I don't see the humour in it, really. Not that I think you or most of us will actually do it, but Perkeleen_Vittupää did email this to the developers:

Why do you treat Linux-gamers the way you do? We were willing to throw out money at you. Seems that you don't need it. You will just add to piracy with this kind of behaviour?Do you really think that will help them change their mind? You don't have to answer, and since you're not a robot, stay happy! ;)

Quoting: GuestHaha, now that makes me want to pirate their game and run it on Windows. :DJoke or not, that is a weird attitude. As if that will help them sympathize with Linux users. Only thing it does, is reaffirm their stereotypical views on Linux users, that we don't want to pay for anything, and that we all use Windows anyways (I haven't used or owned Windows for 18 years, and don't intent to change that for any game). For my sake and people like me, please don't post or mail threats like this, no matter how large asshats the developers are. It hurts us more than it hurts them. Simply don't fund them, and spend your money on developers who actually care about us.

I fully understand that this is a marathon and not a sprint, but Valve has to be more vocal and open about what is happening, and not just hide behind the "Microsoft will lock the ecosystem down" statement (just like Epic). Yes it will take many years before we'll see platform parity, and Valve did a great thing by putting down the first stone, but it would be nice to know what they plan to build - a castle or a bike-shed. Valve showing more commitment would help alot, and while they can't build this all alone, doing left-hand work in "Valve Time" doesn't inspire others to pull up their sleeves.
Despite all this I don't believe Linux will fail as a gaming platform, just that it will take longer than it could have.

I have the impression that the future of games for Linux is very dependent on Valve ...Right, Valve needs to show more pride and ownership in SteamOS, so bigger studios can feel confident in our platforms future. The situation with Rocket League, which I believe Valve has direct involvement in, shows quite the opposite unfortunately.

I don't understand Valve's indifference in all these broken promises and massive delays...

The problem with Linux gamers occupying such a low marketshare currently, and the record number of games we have available now, is that the potential sales are divided up even further. Years ago I bought all games that supported Linux just to reward the developers/publishers, even if I never actually played the games. Now I have many choices, so I buy only games I want to spend time and money on. I really appreciate game developers supporting Linux, as it helps the chicken & egg situation, but I hope they don't expect a huge ROI right away.
Also like many others here, I never consider Greenlit/Early Access games.

Since we’re using Unity, supporting linux basically ‘just works,’ or at least it works enough for us to get a great start on it.So about $30000 so far is potentially not worth the 'trouble'? That's a pretty sad mentality... If they spend 6+ months banging their heads against Linux specific issues, ok fair enough, but somehow I doubt that.
...
So it’s difficult to say if it has been worth the trouble.
