To anyone else in the UK, their prices are terrible. Make sure to shop around.

I'd heard of VP's ports in the past but wasn't aware of "how" they were ported (or rather that they were wrapped quite like this).

This looks like a really light wrapper port. Hell, the output looks exactly like what I'd expect from Wine. Take the binary for example - "Binaries\Win64\mxgp3-Win64-Shipping.exe".

What Subset Games (FTL, Into the Breach) think of Valve's Steam Play

QuoteIt's not a final solution for Linux for us because we like to be storefront agnostic as well as OS agnostic.

This was always my main concern with Proton (especially as many act like Wine doesn't exist anymore, oddly enough). Proton is Steam client only and thus it's not ideal for general use or for the long-term.

A small update on the status of BATTLETECH for Linux

You'd think that if it isn't really Unity causing problems and it's actually the middleware, Unity would step in because in reality it's pretty bad press for the Unity engine.

g000hInterestingly, it is currently free-to-try for the next few days on Steam (as well as discounted if you buy it).

Not quite getting how they can be DRM-Free, and also give the game out for a free trial. Doesn't that mean a load of people will grab the game (in its current release state) and then keep and play it beyond the trial deadline?

DRM free on Humble, not Steam.

Slime Rancher is another Unity game to have black screen problems on Linux, here's a temp fix
9 March 2018 at 11:35 pm UTC

Weird, this game used to work fine for me, but now I've got the black screen issue too. Arch, GTX 1060, 4.14 kernel, etc. I have however updated the game since it worked so I guess it was a Unity update itself that broke it.

Deleting the game's config folder (~/.config/unity3d/Monomi Park) got me to where the menu screen should be (I could see the logo and then the background) but the menu itself still doesn't appear so whilst it's an improvement, it's still not usable.
