What games do you want ported to Linux? Feral Interactive want to know again

Also forgot the LEGO series. My sisters are no longer children, but one has child, and they both use and love linux. They recently talked to me about getting the old LSW2 to work, but had issues with DRM and wine, and so we couldn't even see if the performance was decent enough. I think some proper ports would sell well.
I'm definitely the first one who would buy ALL the LEGO titles if they ever came to Linux, those games are incredibly enjoyable.

Quoting: MaCroX95Are there any comments on terrible optimus support in 2017?
PRIME with synchronization works great. Try it.
The problem goes deeper than that for me unfortunately :( I never got HDMI sound to work even when using pure Nvidia card. My laptop also keeps overheating eventhough I have it on IntelHD. Their optimus support at least for my device is just shite. It is possible that they fix3d it a littlebit with newer devices, but you can still use HDMI only when having the specific GPU on, so many limitations and they don't do ANYTHING in order to improve it.

Quoting: ShmerlDX9 games actually mostly have very good support already. You probably meant DX11 ones?
To be honest, while there is always room for improvement, that's true in my experience as well.
It is the case for me as well. I can't remember the last time I'd tried to install dx9 game and wouldn't be able to... it works with all the games I try and hopefully DX11 will get into great shape as well soon.

Looks like the DOSBox wrapped Linux version of STAR WARS: Dark Forces might make it to Steam

How cool would it be if they brought native ports of Jedi Knight II and III to linux :D they're absolutely among my favourite games of all times, story was rich, mechanics simple but interesting and very fun to play, we need more games like that today.

I hope they finally add the ability for a curator to edit the blurb of their recommendation, stupid to not have an edit function.
You can. You have to go to your group, the curator tab, then click on the recommendation there and then you'll have an option to edit it. And yeah, it's not the simplest most obvious way.
Bah! Removed that line, but yeah that's not very convenient I completely overlooked that, as I was on the "store" styled page for it. Quite a nuisance.
Isn't China a huge market for Linux as well though? IIRC they had their own distro that's pretty popular in that country.
AFAIK majority of chinese users use Windows (they even have the special edition of Win10 that doesn't include spyware... what a privillage!)

Quoting: MetallinatusThe fact that Linux can keep itself around the 1% mark all the time despite all the growing going on at Steam shows that the number of people on Linux there is growing more or less in the same pace. Remember when we were ≃1% of 10 million? Well, now we are ≃1% of 14 million! But still "the market is too small", amirite....?
The market will always be too small for lazy ass developers :P It's just lucky that we have Feral who prove that porting games to such platforms actually makes them money.

Also the companies that sell linux devices have exploded in popularity recently.

The Witcher 3 didn't come to Linux likely as a result of the user-backlash from The Witcher 2

Quoting: elmapulwell, looking at the bright side, at least this prove one thing: our voice makes an impact, its not pointless to shoult, we actualy have the power to change something with our voice.
its a shame that we change it for worse, but if we have this power, we certainly can change it for better with other titles/companys.
Yes, when our voice is for negative we're likely to get such excuses as "well your community sucks" and if our voice is for positive we'll get "well you know you're nice and all, but we can't justify the development for 1% of the market". We can change nothing with our voices, we can only change things by actually growing in marketshare and making them money. A lot of companies have proven that already.

Some things developers might want to think about when bringing a game to Linux

Great article Liam, the amount of developers who start hating linux due to not thinking about the linux port before making Windows versions is too big. And cross-platform game development is easier then it ever was with Vulkan, SDL2 and such :)
