"Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - The Beast of Winter" [External Link] releases). And according to the database "TerraTech" [External Link] never had a Linux build on GOG. So, most probably the conflict have arisen due to usage of Steamworks™ API for multiplayer and developers' unwillingness to replace it with Galaxy API (and to support two different API's at once), which otherwise is perfectly capable of Windows™ and MacOS™ multiplayer support.

Quoting: liamdaweI wonder what exactly the issue is. A case of the developer not wanting to lock out Mac/Linux because Galaxy only supports Windows, Galaxy API being poor...It is safe to assume GOG couldn't care less for Linux being left behind (on multiple occasions GOG removed Linux support from a game right on release, like with "The 25th Ward: The Silver Case" [External Link] or recent

Quoting: CyrilFuck! And no DRM-Free build on Humble Bundle... :|Yeah that is sad indeed. And to add injury to insult (yeah, in that order) for those who payed for the game "InDev", the wording "… all current owners of TerraTech via gog.com's GID program (or those that purchase before the 10th) will still receive the latest 1.0 update with all possible features, fixes and improvements." implies there will be no future versions for the game on GOG, only the base 1.0 release "as is". No refunds either. :><:
This time it's not just bad for Linux users, but for all platforms.

It has left not only "Early Access" but the GOG store as well [External Link]. :(
Just a quick reminder: never pre-order, never pay for Early Access. ;)

Talking point: Leaving user reviews for Linux games can really help a developer

That being said, if one played a game in WINE, I see no problems with him/her leaving a review and marking it as "WINE experience" because, obviously, those playing the game on Windows might have different results, and this review helps other WINE-users to better weight the purchase (not that I encourage WINE-targeted purchases, it is NTNB for me most of the time, but that's just me).

Quoting: ShmerlDo you mean to leave reviews for Linux releases, or to leave them for Windows only releases and comment about interest in Linux versions?IMO, a review should be just that: a review. This means one must at least play the game in order to judge it and vocalize its flaws/strengths. Otherwise it will be like "I haven't read <author's name, usually Pasternak>, but I condemn him/her!"

Quoting: Guest…many Linux gamers like myself already play it and we get counted as "Windows" players. And rightfully so! Because, for all intents and purposes you are a Windows-gamer. :P
Quoting: MicromegasI consider buying a new game which is only available for Windows but currently runs via Wine as too risky. Any new game update might break it on Wine.If a game has Platinum rating, is more than 12 years old and has a great discount (the price is less than $2), I find it pretty safe to get it. Oh, and freeware games also (provided they are good of course). As long as I do not have to install/tinker/replace/hack-in/compile something to make it work (no winetricks, native libs, dxvk etc. Just plain and simple system-provided WINE).

Honestly, it is hard to take Humble IGN seriously as a DRM-free store nowadays. :(

Quoting: GuestStrange… They seem to be changing things faster than we can track that. Sadly, I didn't make a screenshot.Quoting: Alm888When I looked yesterday the icons indicated DRM-free builds for Windows and Mac, and now it’s even worse, there’s only the Steam icon, no DRM-free builds at all.Quoting: GuestNo DRM-free Linux build on Humble :(.Are you sure about this? The store page icons indicate that the DRM-free version for Linux is present.

Please, don't be mad at me. I appreciate what you are doing.
Aside from that, the news is not about the game, really. I mean, I am 90% sure you have not played the game at all, considering the news has nothing on the game and its qualities. The closest to the game itself is just a basic promo copypasta.
Now, the "meat" ot the news is that while Steam is continiuing to fumble with VNs, GOG, apparently, took advantage of its rival and tries to push forward on that field. And that is geniunely interesting.
Perhaps, the title is not perfect. Consider this: "GOG adds yet another VN ("Shining Song Starnova" ) in its catalog while it is stuck in the publishing limbo on Steam."
Sounds more relevant to the point.
But, speaking of which, perhaps it is time to add GOG link to local accounts now that GOG has user profiles?
