The Humble Down Under Bundle is a very good deal for Linux gamers

P.S. I am also not above this: I will not give any money to "Larian Studios" and most probably will not buy "Divinity: Original Sin" despite its availability on Linux due to their actions (which I took as a personal insult) regarding the release of Linux version.
P.P.S. GOG… Armello… Does it sound any bells??? Like, this story [External Link]? Yet, despite all of this GOG is totally OK to get DRM-FREE games, unlike despicable "Humble IGN"…

Quoting: RafiLinuxMaybe but how so from your POV?"Nothing personal, it is just business."
Quoting: RafiLinuxIf a company does business in a way that I am morally against and I do not want to support them is this now considered hatred and vengeance?What exactly is so "morally unacceptable" in this particular deal? The fact that they do not provide DRM-free or Linux versions for all games in the bundle?
Quoting: RafiLinux…if the game supports Linux and I like the game, then I will probably support it.The games in the bundle are for Linux and DRM-free. Yet, you will not "support" (in the form of purchasing?) them… Well, maybe you just don't like them… But that has nothing to do with IGN or Humble Inc.… Oh, wait!
Quoting: RafiLinuxWhile the deal is good, if I wanted those games in a DRM-FREE format I will look for them on itch.io and/or GOG.So… this is not about personal taste in games but IGN per se.
Quoting: RafiLinuxLet me know when IGN comes out and says that they WILL support Linux and DRM-FREE gaming with some clear goals and milestones with some kind of checks/balances in place and I will give them another look.I'll try to not forget to inform you on such a development, but no promises! OK? :D
Quoting: RafiLinuxTil then I will continue to support Linux Gaming as I see fit.That is your right and I am in no position to scold you on that. But, please, try to be aware of the fact that your actions are motivated by personal feelings (about past IGN's actions) and not rational thoughts about current event.
Quoting: AnxiousInfusionNot so Humble anymore will do just fine w/out me.I like that name! "Not so Humble Inc." :P Sounds right!

Quoting: RafiLinuxI hear you but I strongly believe that IGN deserves none of my money. While the deal is good, if I wanted those games in a DRM-FREE format I will look for them on itch.io and/or GOG.So, it is actually not about DRM but personal hatred and vengeance…
Quoting: NibelheimI said "goodbye" to Humble Bundle. Will never come back.
Quoting: AnxiousInfusionThanks boys for reminding me that I have a vestigialSeriously, guys/gals, do you really want it to become self-fulfilling prophecy?Humblelol IGN now account left to delete. And remember, you can't spell ignorant without IGN. ™

What you saw was actually a great deal of care at that time <when "not to care" literally equaled to "GTFO linaps scum">.
Every developer just used what he/she guessed was most suitable:
Valve also made a grave mistake of (xkcd 927) with its "Steam Runtime" and it took time for GOG to finally settle with MojoSetup (for now).
2008 … 2010 were really dark ages of Linux gaming. There were virtually no commercial Linux games, people played some Open Source games (many of which were clones of commercial games) like "Super Tux Cart", "Freedroid RPG", "The Battle for Wesnoth", "Crimson Fields", "OpenRA", "OpenMV" etc.
"Humble Indie Bundle" was a breakthrough at that time. Sadly, Humble Inc. degraded into "Steam key re-seller" since then, but I believe we will find a suitable replacement eventually.

Quoting: GuestI was told to contact the dev, who was also not great, expecting me to do many complex workarounds (Humble's packaging was terrible), and he finally admitted it was a 4-year old submission, that he could only submit in the form Humble said (yet Humble seemed to have no knowledge of Linux/installs at all). The impression I got was that Humble care nothing for Linux users, and I'm not surprised at what's happened.Back then (around 2011) no one had any idea as to how package games for Linux and the quality of the ports was atrocious (did I mention that after half an hour of playtime the sound of "Shadowgrounds: Survivor" had began to stutter and finally ceased to exist due to sound buffer overflow and the developers simply didn't care with the excuse "Either this, or no sound at all; we are done with this game and will not fix it for shitty Linux sound system, deal with it!"?).

Every developer just used what he/she guessed was most suitable:
- separate RPM and DEB packages (Oil Rush);
- (very convoluted) DEB packages (Battle Worlds: Kronos);
- tar.gz and zip(!) interleaved between updates (Shadowrun: Returns -- Harebrained seemed to have troubles making its mind);
- MojoSetup;
- even RAR archives!

My reaction is rather dull compared to the most of people here. Never used "Humble Monthly" or got non-Linux or non-DRM-Free games form Humble and due to lack of regional pricing Humble did not have an edge over GOG for me (I can get games 4 times cheaper on GOG normally). So, it is not much of a loss, really.
But just as I said "Nothing personal, just business" to GOG, the same rule must be applied to Humble. We shall see…
It absolutely must be DRM-free and Linux only!!!! ;)

Quoting: liamdaweYay! LiamBundle confirmed!!!1111Quoting: sn0rlaxTime to launch a Gaming on Linux Bundle site? I'll buy my games from you.One step at a time, one day we shall conquer the world and spread the good word of Linux :P

Quoting: Avehicle7887Humble Bundle for me died ever since they stopped caring about DRM-Free, even worse some devs don't update the said builds. Now I either buy a game on GOG these days or not buy it at all.More of the latter than the former, I suppose. As GOG stopped caring about Linux (or didn't even start in the first place) and have began to release for Windows and Mac only due to lack of "optional" "GOG Galaxy" certainly_not_a_DRM client.
Quoting: PublicNuisanceI will keep my eye on things as most will. If they continue to give me a place to purchase DRM free Linux games then I will shop there but if they cease to do that then I will take my business to GOG and Itch as I already do since no one place has every game I want.I second that! :D
Quoting: Luke_NukemItch.io leaves a bad taste in my mouth with the unrestricted variety of ways people package stuff.Well, GOG leaves even more of a bad taste in mouths of many with its "optional" Galaxy installer bundled with game installers. :)

Quoting: predator8bitAnd for that I have to register on Steam, which I will not do no matter what.Quoting: Alm888Have them both on Humble. GOG is not needed.I mean on Humble you get Steam keys so you can easily claim it on GOG too, so why not? I think its a good idea to have a 'backup'.

But no, now it is 3.04%. And the "…has NOT been reviewed…" notice is still there.
This all looks like someone is editing "uncomfortable" (for certain "someone" ) numbers in order to please him/her. This all means we can pretty safely drop Netmarketshare from the reliable sources list.
I can imagine someone at NetMarketshare just has lost his/her job (either due to unacceptable and unforgivable accounting algorithm error or due to sudden truth leakage :D ).

I.e. to "back" a project is to put your money in hopes the product in question will be made. Whether you get said product or not is irrelevant.
I invest in Kickstarter in order to enlarge Linux gaming catalog, not to "buy games" or "get a share in profits".
