Steam and GOG are encouraging this type of behaviour. Even Valve itself did this with HTC Vive!
I've yet to see a single developer who got punished for release-day cancelling.
At this stage the "No Tux == No Bucks" and "Never Pre-Order" rules are obligatory.

Quoting: BeamboomThis is just stupid.This is not stupid! This is scientific method of observation and science can not be stupid. period! :D
Quoting: BeamboomBut tell me, how do you think the picture is, and what do you base it on?Hate to disappoint you, but I am not omniscient. I can not check every single PC in the world (let alone, at once). So, I'm relying on statistics, just as everyone else.
When you only see Macs and Windows around, how do you explain it. How's your take on reality?
Here is what I saw:
- Humble Bundles [External Link] showed there are (5 … 15%) Linux user base (for "indie" games, at least);
- Developers of the "Defender's Quest" [External Link] told us there are 16% of Linux sales on Steam;
- StatCounter [External Link] gives us (1.44 … 1.79%) range;
- W3Counter [External Link] (very West-Europe oriented site [External Link] gives 7341 "Linux+Ububtu+Fedora" visits out of 63327, which makes 11,6% (and only 5 "ChromeOS" visits, sorry, "ChromeOS inflates Linux share" theory believers, not your day :whistle: );
- Steam Hardware Survey… No, just… no.
Every one is free to think what she/he wants.

Just a quick reality check: I recently saw 1 (one) GNU/Linux machine (not ChromeOS or something of the kind) and 1 (one) "Windows XP" machine at my hospital! This makes the world half GNU/Linux and half "Windows XP" filled! :P

Quoting: Beamboomlet's all head over to our school camp, coffe shops, cantinas, LAN parties, computer shops, service centers, IT departments and main streets across our entire world, and return a day later and report our sightings.Hey!

P.S. I personally prefer solid competition between stores (Steam, Humble, itch, even Desura <R.I.P.> and self-publish) and will not "put all eggs in one basket" ever. No offense, GOG, but "No Tux == No Bucks". Nothing personal, it's just business.

Quoting: GuestI don't understand why any of you patronize GOG considering that they don't seem Linux friendly at all.Well, it is true there are two or three people who was initially lured to GOG with its "THE DRM-free Store" advertisement because Linux and DRM-free are a natural pair. GOG were using DRM-free and old abandonware support as a means for initial growth (because they were virtually nobodies) but has since shifted its focus to this [External Link]:
To create a catalogue of brand-new AAA releases fully supported by GOG Galaxy; to turn GOG Galaxy into a technological foundation upon which gamers can access videogames produced by CD PROJEKT RED and interact with one another.Sadly, to think that GOG will participate in Linux advancement was just wishful thinking. GOG never was Linux-friendly or even Linux-aware (I still remember its "not in a foreseeable future" reply) and turned to be just another store, no better than Steam.

SEGA at its best! What else can be said?
But this has nothing to do with "gaming on Linux". That's just general gaming/piracy news.

The Humble Very Positive Bundle 2 is an awesome deal

Most of the DRM-free Linux stuff is in the PWYW.
So, it is tier-1 and Free Software Foundation for me.
I kinda like when Humble Hundle is not a useless Steam keys re-seller and means busyness, even if most of the deals are shovelware. :-)

Could see… and could not see…
No Tux == No Bucks. Any speculation is pointless; we saw countless times that bait and switch tactic.
Besides, not a day-1 release => not a full price purchise.
That's my opinion, anyway.

This reminds me…
Quoting: Tommy Refenes"I can't wait for some Linux programmer guy to e-mail me and say "I'll port this for free", because I already have the e-mail already written that I'm going to send back to him, and basically tell him to fuck off, indefinitely."Is this proposal still intact?
