Valve may be adding support for using compatibility tools for playing games on different operating systems

EVERY big modern software uses compatibility layers in some ways. At least we would know it's FOSS Wine and DXVK, not something unknown and proprietary.
Imagine this situation:
1. Games on Steam get Linux support,
2. Ubisoft (for example) watch significant income from Linux users,
3. They don't want to share that money with Gaben,
4. Uplay and some games there get ported to Linux.

Quoting: ScooptaMaybe it's just me but I personally think it'll be a dark day in the Linux world when devs target Windows and just expect wine or some other compatibility layer to be used.Yeah, sure, it would be much worse than now, when devs target Windows and just don't care about anything beside Windows. *sarcasm*

Quoting: jarhead_hThe reason SteamOS even exists, the reason for the Linux storefront on Steam is because Gabe absolutely HATED Windows Flat Design/8.It's not because of design, of course. There were rumours Microsoft were going to lock all Windows software to UWP and its store.

They promised Life is Strange: Before the Storm this spring, so "early Autumn" probably means "early Autumn, 2019" in terms of Feral time.

Thou shalt not use Microsoft or Adobe software.
Honour free and open-source software.
Is it possible to create a Church of Tux in this game?

Quoting: EhvisIIRC, the DLCs are all set at level 30 in normal mode. So that's not really an option either. They are set to different levels, starting at 15, so it's easy to start a new game, level up on first missions and go to DLC. That's what I did. It would have been strange if they were set to the same level, because a player would start one at its recommended level and finish it as too overlevelled for others.

Quoting: EhvisSolution is to switch to True Vault Hunter Mode so the DLC are back at your character level.Or to start a new game as a different character.
Quoting: Kelsso maybe just getting the base game rather than GOTY is a better idea? It'd certainly be cheaper, and I'm unlikely to play much co-op.The DLC of GOTY edition is too good to miss it.
