GOL Game Jam Has Entered Rating Phase

Quoting: bubexelThe game is designed by me from scratch, all created from zero. I didn't used a full game and just changed the sprites -.-'.
Mate, don't be discouraged! Keep your game in, let others give it a shot. We only had one week to develop, anyone who's expecting a genius new idea or a full experience game doesn't have their expectations set correctly.

That said, for those who tried my game Survive The Unknown, got any feedback for me? I'm curious to know where I did things badly and where I did things in an ok manner. How would I improve gameplay in such a game :)

I definitely feel I overshot my plans, I should have tried to keep things simpler and on a smaller scale. Would have given me more time to test gameplay and bugs.

Humble Bundle Let Staff Go Due To Being Too Ambitious

There's rarely any magic left in them as they're just a standard bundle company now. Once upon a time they were a pinnacle for pushing Linux and Mac ports, where everyone else was just selling Windows-only and didn't care about the actual games they were selling.

To top it off they were doing charity, bringing to the public eye games that were actually fun/well-made but not that well known, and were passionate about it.

After the first Humble Origin Bundle, they've pretty much just become a staple for naughty corporations that are seeking sympathy/impulse sales before annual earnings reports or PR.

This latest Capcom one is just another EA-like bundle. I still appreciate their Indie bundles, but it's clear they're keeping those around so that they don't lose too many of their original customers at this point.

I don't hate them, and they're still doing wonderful things for charity but it's clear they're treating it only as business now. I wish them the best still, as we go forward nothing stays the same anymore.

Quoting: ziabiceWe have lots of promised ports, but nothing in our hands: no betas, no demos, no gameplay videos, rarely images.
Linux triple-A games ports seems to me like a sleeping princess awating for a prince to wake her with a kiss: a princess that could sleep for years... :|
Use some imagination. That Prince is Gaben in his SteamOS shining armor upon his Steam Machine steed!

The GOL Game Jam Is Really Happening Soon!

Note that this does restrict the use of assets you have made yourself privately before the beginning of the jam, unless you made those assets publicly available.
Does this mean that assets we make ourselves during the jam is fine for inclusion? Or is it outright not ok to make your own assets? I'm a bit confused on this part.

Prison Architect Releasing 6th October, Will Have New Game Mode & More Single Player Chapters

I've been looking forward to this game for a while. I refused to get it in Early Access due to fear of it never reaching completion, but I'm really glad it is!

I wish them all the best with the launch, hopefully it all goes smoothly.

Quoting: SabunIm not using MESA but I think for support OpenGL 4X in main profile you need have installed LLVM 3.7, if you don't have this, OGL 4.1 is support only in Mesa core profile.
I do have LLVM 3.7 runtime and toolchain installed. I thought that you also needed to compile Mesa against LLVM 3.7?

I checked the PPA, apparently the packages are only for Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn. So, 14.04 and 15.04 AMD users can't use this PPA.

Quoting: maodzedunI use this REPO - it's Oibaf + LLVM3.7:

I don't mean to be a bother, but can you list out the steps you took to install this PPA and unlock OpenGL 4 support?

I'm on an R9 390 (Hawaii) card, and with this PPA I am still stuck at OpenGL 3 on Ubuntu 15.04 64bit.

Quoting: EikeGood to see them caring for the big games on Linux, and good to see they're obviously working together with the Alien porters! Things are going to improve for AMD users as well!
It really is nice to see!

Quoting: g0rg0rThis game is in my library. Diligently waiting for a patch so AMD gpu's can play. :(
What hardware are you running it on and with what driver?

I'll admit it's a bit glitchy (water/ice textures bug out often), but it is playable. I'm running it on Mesa 11.1 RadeonSI drivers here with an AMD R9 390. Performance seems to be about 50% of what I can achieve on Windows, which is similar to my Nvidia experience so far.

Are you experiencing crashes, performance woes, or game breaking bugs?
