According to Epic CEO Tim Sweeney - game stores don't need an AI label as it will be everywhere

Then if AAA can steal from anyone, anyone should be able to steal from Tim Sweeney and major company having the same philosophy. Everyone should be able to use AI and hack every Tim Sweeney computer and engeneer hardware, to use it for different purpose with no label or prior consent.

I like the thing, that only announcing a steam machine is already creating an emulation, and people are coming with all sort of ideas. Saw one creating a steam machine looking like a cube from Portal. This might bring more and more gamer on linux on the run especially if perf on those machines are stronger with steamos than windows.

This mod is really the best for Heroes 2. It brings to the game every little quality of life improvment brought by Heroes 3 and the community patches. The perfect way to play Heroes 2 for me, and it's one of the great episode of the serie (with great soundtrack).

Sorry for becoming off topic, but as your choice matched my curiosity and hesitated between those 3 distro. I'd like to thank you a lot for your detailed answer clatterfordslim. I like it leightweigt with some ease to use, I might get tempted by cachyOS or return to xubuntu, I'll decided when the SSD will be in the PC :p
Is cachyOS working easily out of the box with old windows games if you tried any?

Anti-cheat will still be one of the biggest problems for the new Steam Machine

I will be honest by saying that behind the anticheat on battlefield 6 lies a strategical step toward blocking valve from punishing those greedy studios in order to restrain our liberty and fullfil their secret desire of overwhelming power of people who just want to have fun freely.

Linux Mint to get an upgraded System Information tool and a spruced up system menu

Built in app within Mint are very good tbh. Having all those infos are great. When I was still working as pc maintenance, Mint live image was one of my first tool of choice. Only the usb tool to format usb key + the usb iso creator are the strongest and easiest GUI tool I've tried on linux. it works very well I don't understand why people recommend balena etcher, when you have something as efficient, lightweight and easy to use as those 2 small tools.

Currently playing and recording Mafia Old Country in Xubuntu 24.04, which I am dual booting with Cachy OS Xfce Edition and Linux Mint Xfce 22.2 Zara is my main everyday driver. I still have Alone In The Dark 2024 version to complete, which I'll probably get around to finishing sometime next year.
I'm interested on your feedback, cause I need a new updated distro and I'm hesitating with the same 3 distro you use. Did you have any issue with any of those?
I was very happy with xubuntu back in the days, and also with mint ^^ I'm looking into CachyOS for the gaming optimisation, but I also enjoy the ease of use from Mint, and the lightweight approach of Xubuntu as well as it's simple and customizable UI.

Other than that I'm pretty tired and can't really focus on games anymore. Casual aoe2 with a friend, and recently replayed rise of tomb raider and shadow of tomb raider.
Also replayed a few megadrive/genesis games recently on emulator. Wiz&Liz, Steel Empire, Sonic 1 and Tiny Toons all stars (the one with sports).

Full Circle / EA confirm again that skate. will not support Linux, Steam Deck or macOS

look at that! A dead before birth "skate the broken crew" with extra fake promise content and deliberate steamdeck exclusion.

Linux Mint 22.2 "Zara" is officially out now
6 Sep 2025 at 11:01 am UTC

This version seems to be heading in the right direction. I'm still looking forward as well for wayland, and for the new release of LMDE. I'm hesitating between xubuntu 24.04 or 25.10 for the perf along with cachyos, and mint 22.2 or LMDE 7 later for use and feel.

Stop Killing Games consumer movement hits some major milestones

Exactly. And they are the ones who know for a fact that, in twenty years' time, nostalgia will kick in (if it even takes that long), and peopleconsumers will be ready for the second round. And who is to say there can be only one remaster/-vival/-imagined/-make cashgrab.
Especially while in the meantime the community has already done all the work big money head from publisher dare to call remaster.
Almost every old game I own had community patch to allow modern resolutions, improved audio/controls, bug fix... Sometime even community open source recreated engines fixing all the issues at once.

Definitly a good news, never understood people advocating against their own rights, same for DRM such as denuvo. You see people on forum argumenting for it... Like they enjoy being treated as thieves on top of paying with their credit card. Meanwhile you see indie or CDprojekt making their game drm free, and the sales speaks for themselves...
