Deus Ex: Mankind Divided released for Linux, port report and review

I'm on Mint to try it, I'm a bit noob with linux, but I have used debian and Xubuntu before, and never was totally satisfied with the 5.1. I picked mint because on the live image, in the audio panel there was a 5.1 sound test for every speakers. How does it work I have not clue, I thought the 5.1 would just be like most of the time on windows a 2.1 spread to other speakers way of 5.1, which is kindof the case on like youtube and other stuff, but not in Deus EX.
On Deus Ex I hear background noises in rear speaker and (apologize if this is not clear, i'm not english :p): the way the sound distance travels between my ears and the level of each ones for me seems almost 100% 5.1 surround working. I came a couple of time to thanks and congratulate feral for that (if I'm not mistaken it would still the best audio balance I've heard on linux), because it works as it should, and as it would on windows pretty much. I'm on integrated chipset.
MSI P67A-C45 for the motherboard.
If you still read, I will try to come later to show you on screenshot, or check the libs. (I'm not on my gaming pc right now.)
edit: I'm not on HMDI, but could HDMI audio link be depending of official graphic drivers or specific library?

5.1 works very good for me. But I use Linux Mint, and the 5.1 appears properly on sound control panel and works out of the box. Sounds support is a lot better than in Mad Max imo.

Another good title on approach from Feral :) I'm also hoping for dirt rally. On the windows version of the early access, there was some gnu/linux terms in the contract. Was it planned from the beginning? If it is the case it would be a good port idea, because game runs great on windows and a 20% perf drop would not be much of a deal. And we would have one of the best rally game ever made on linux. ^^
For vulkan we have to wait a bit more I think. They talk about implenting in during 2017, it may be only the second half of 2017. I don't mind whenever it is, I know feral will make good use of it once they are ready.

The Linux port of space action game 'EVERSPACE' is sounding a bit iffy now

Maybe they can give a call to feral so that they sort out the problem and get a little % on linux sales as a reward?

I was waiting as well for this linux port. Quite sad if it does not happen.

I hope they will sort these issues out. That's probably another reason to start with OpenGL rather than DX..."
"And penalise 90%+ of your clients to make life easier for the 2%? OpenGL has limitations that DX doesn't."If you start with OpenGL you won't penalise anyone appart yourself a bit of extrawork on the earlier stage of the devloppment. But in Everspace case it is too late. That's why linux user push so earlier for linux adoption, in order to make it happen. Otherwise devs when encountering problems just give up. What is weird is that they don't not get this problem on MAC :(
Alienware manager on Steam Machines lull: Windows 10 changed things

I'm sorry to doubt the Dell argument about steam machine, as windows 8 and 8.1 still have better performances over windows 10 and 7 on gaming.
And now that windows 10 is going even more against gamers with UWP platform, with lower perf than windows 7 and 8.1, microsoft is fine for dell?
This does not make much sens, but most of the devs intervening on that debate was saying the same as dell, and in the end many of them have accepted to work on UWP which really is a shame for them.
Luckily as you say Liam, Linux gaming is still growing, and getting better everyday thx to the devs who actually care of other platforms and don't fall in the UWP windows 10 only trap.
If steam don't get too much money from MS to accept to make crossplatform with UWP it will be a good point for valve in the future of Linux gaming.

Football Manager 2017 released with day-1 Linux & SteamOS support, demo available

The reviews on steam were bad, but the main reason is that most Football Manager sales are done in China. The devs talked about a Chinese version that did not came out when the game got released. They downvoted it to death, and now people think it's a bad game, but it's actually along the 2016 version, the best football managing game ever released on pc. ;'(
