Quoting: MayeulCHow about Inner Chains? Or maybe even Prey?

Other titles I would find fitting are Deadpool (though that's old) and Dark Souls. Let's bring Doom and Dead Space for good measure :)
Inner Chains didn't sell good even on Windows and devs abandoned the game.

Quoting: LeopardThis price is crazy high to be honest.
23 quid its not bad, not saying you are of this mindset but there does seem to be this mindset that indies games should be under 15 quid (18usd) that says to be inheritantly people are always expecting less of indie games than they do triple A. I know not every indie game is gold and I am personally tired of the retro pixel art style games and rouge likes but i know i am in a minority but there are some indie gems that are worth the price. Shovel knight for example is the same price when not on offer as this new game and many people didnt bat an eyelid at shovel knights pricing.
Actaully i was not talking about USD dollar price.

State of Mind cost for me: 100 Turkish Lira on Steam. Enhanced Steam shows it is 26.99 dollars.

Thrones of Brittania Total War : 100 Turkish Lira on Steam. Enhanced Steam shows it is 39.99 dollars.

Clearly , Daedalic took a higher exchange value here than SEGA.

Looking at their Steam page I'm a bit worried that they aren't going to test and support AMD GPUs at all though, especially on Linux.
Well , it also shows Nvidia only reqs for Windows and Mac too.

Actually it is really simple : Market domination. It both works for users and devs.

OpenGL to be deprecated in the next macOS release, could mean interesting things for Linux gaming

Quoting: JanAs a developer, if you also plan to release on iOS (which is the biggest mobile gaming platform) you have to support Metal anyway.
Pretty sure Android dwarfs iOS in that arena.

At least according to this source, Android sits above 80% of the market while iOS is less than 20%:

Income wise it is the opposite.

Quoting: PsychojauApple and Microsoft are insane. They want to think about their platforms as gaming consoles. When you port a graphical application on PS4, you have 2 APIs : 1 high level and one low level specifically made to optimize the rendering for a specific hardware. Here, they don't have this excuse. The hardware is never the same, so you need some kind of "adaptable" APIs. Vulkan is the logical, pragmatic solution.
They are trying to steal as much freedom as they can, imprisoning their users / developers to squeeze out as much cash flood as possible for themselves and only them *mwahahaha*... in the multi-platform era : They are insane and dangerous !
I hope Atari VCS will be a success (near 10000 donators ! ^^ ). I really do !
10.000 donators isnt enough.
atari vcs made 2,512,524 until now, i dont know how they will end, but ouya made 9 millions in their campaing and their console was an disaster.

why would you develop for an platform with 10.000 users when you can develop for an platform like ps4 with 70 millions of users?
ouya focused on indie developers, but sony added suport for indie games on ps4 and a touchpad killing all the ouya apeal, even the developers who tried couldnt afford to make games for ouya.
even if everyone who purchased an atari vcs purchase your game, that is not enough to justify an port of an game that sell millions on other platforms
So true.

With this news, we'll see soon or later what devs will continue to support us (Vulkan move) and what devs won't.
It might be interesting... support Linux because it can brings more customers or because It's a Free/Libre OS?
I'm a bit afraid that we can loose some devs/porters. So wait & see...
For some time now we have been getting ports that the Mac users don't, a few examples are Ruiner and Vaporum. Hopefully devs will continue to see that although small, there's profit to be made in Linux, not to forget the great improvements it made on the desktop.
Actually , going OpenGL will be meaningful for small devs who wants to aim PC only and have very small chances to make it a story of success.

Otherwise , if you want to aim for mobile too Vulkan is the only way now. Since you can expand your available platforms to MacOS and Ios thanks to MoltenVK.

On AAA wise , nothing changed. Dx11 will be the dominant api (W7 , 8 and 10 ) since mobile devices are not capable to run them and Linux user base is simply not worth it.

Quoting: adamhmAs usual, older/classic games currently on sale on GOG that I've made
How reliable are these Wine-wrapped games? I've never bought a Wine-wrapped game before, so I don't know what's involved, or how compatible they are, or how much setup I have to do.

I would consider buying some of the older ones that have no chance of coming to Linux (but I won't buy anything that may have a native port coming).

Any info is appreciated.
These games are NOT Wine wrapped by default. These are scripts that contains certain Wineprefixes for certain games.

So ; if you buy them you would end up buying a Windows game , not a Wine wrapped game by default.
