Game over for Roblox on Linux / Steam Deck as it's now blocked

Let's give Linux a little more time to grow. Then the developers are guaranteed to find a solution ;)

Palworld is Steam Deck Playable and runs on Desktop Linux with Proton

Quoting: soulsourceI'm a bit torn on this one. On the one hand it looks really interesting. On the other hand it's €20 that will be spent on nothing once it gets pulled from Steam because of (rightful) copyright claims by The Pokémon Company...

It is more likely that it will be taken over by Epic and taken down from Steam.

Skyrim Special Edition updated with Steam Deck support, ultrawide res, bug fixes

QuoteThat said, the trouble is, the game is old and doesn't let you change graphics settings in-game. So you're stuck with the defaults they set. If you wish to change them, setting SteamDeck=0 %command% as a launch option in the Properties will bring back the launcher.

What resolution does it come up with? (I would have expected 800p on the Deck.)

Steam Deck - SteamOS 3.5.8 now in Preview

QuoteFixed the performance overlay displaying GPU clock speed as an instantaneous measurement rather than an average, resulting in misleading numbers.

This has led to several XY reports on GitHub. The quality of the bug reports has steadily declined since the Steam Deck launch, according to my subjective impression. Jokes come true.

I don't want to say that I wish Linux gaming would return to insignificance.

Steam Deck OLED is just pure joy - the definitive Steam Deck

The colors on the OLED always seem oversaturated to me. Not just with you, but everywhere. I suspect this is because I am looking at it on my LCD screen.

Counter-Strike 2 sees the return of community maps

Quoting: Perkeleen_VittupääNow that macOS is not supported by CS2 anymore, maybe that plays a part in player count considerably. Only Linux and Windows are supported now.
Could be a network effect. Since our MacOS friend can't play, we've been playing something else. Something like that. However, such declines are quite normal for CS. It was last seen in July.

Valve dropped Counter-Strike 2 support on macOS and older hardware
11 October 2023 at 11:03 pm UTC

As a Linux user, I'm not a fan of this it's-too-few-gamers attitude. Valve just doesn't make it, and that's okay. They are just people for whom the day has no more than 24 hours. And Apple really does have a corrosive policy. They are now worse than Microsoft in the bad old days.

Only one should not underestimate the network effect. If three friends play CS together every now and then and one of them is a Mac user, they will play something else from now on.

EA expanding EA Anti-Cheat - bad news for Steam Deck / Linux

The kernel based AC will or have already lead to external image recognition. Extract video signal, process it and feed the result back via Bluetooth/USB. For example mouse corrections.

Chess services, where cheating is obviously done on external systems, rely 100% on AI for recognition.

In the future, in EA games, you may not even notice that you are playing against cheaters. Maybe that is already the case. Without an objective evaluation system, it's hard to say. Thus, EA and co. must also rely on AI and statistical methods here. The question is whether kernel-based systems are still useful at all. They have side effects. I would not install something like that on a Windows system. I'd rather read a book instead.
