War Thunder adds stealth tech, ray tracing and graphics upgrades in the Firebirds update

Quoting: M@GOidI don't care about the MMO part. I would gladly buy a package of a offline version were access to the planes was behind a fixed fee. I just want to fly the planes without loads of obstacles put there to make me shed a couple bucks. DCS allows that, but I find their prices outrageous. I don't need to flip every single switch in the cockpit, just give me realistic physics with reasonable graphics for a reasonable price.

This is something I miss in today's flight sims. You cannot simply buy something for a reasonable price and have a good selection of planes to fly. You either have to shed a lot of money for so called "ultra detailed" models (but with lots of bugs) in DCS, or grind away on War Thunder. Even the last IL-2 game became a cash grab scheme with multiple problems.

I'm a flight simmer since the late 90's, from the Warbids days. I'm well aware flight simulators always had their problems, but today the hobby is only becoming more expensive than it ever was. Also, the small number of games out there in this genre frustrates me, because with limited options come limited efforts to make things better.
WarThunder still has single player campaigns, though I think they've stopped developing new ones due to low demand. Some campaigns are unlocked by unlocking particular ranks in nations tech trees, and others have to be purchased

Do NOT try to run WarThunder with Proton. It will most likely work for playing replays, but you will get banned by Easy AntiCheat if you try playing PvP

It looks like a Godot game, but it's not on the Godot showcase - interesting.
Count me in for the giveaway ;)

Quoting: Purple Library GuyOh dear, I'm not very good at slang. I can use it, but real words come more naturally to me . . .
You can't throw shade then

"An error occurred while launching the game: No licenses" is what I get trying to redeem it. Which seems like a historical reconstruction going by the Ars Technica article about it's launch.
Edit: Only happens from the franchise sale page, can be redeemed from individual listing

Fedora KDE gets approval to be upgraded to sit alongside Fedora Workstation

This is exciting! One gets tired of explaining that's it's not Linux that's hard, it's Gnome, so making KDE the default in more places will help. Maybe we even get KDE Red Hat by the time RHEL 10 comes around at work?
This leaves Ubuntu as the last important Gnome by default outpost... and I write this from Kubuntu ;)

Quoting: officerniceOh look, another reason why Steam is better than Epic.
It also shows why people dislike Steam: I don't need a feature creep. There's so much junk like this in the Steam client I don't care about. Someone should tell Valve about the unix principle or at least about plugins.
I was afraid of this too - I don't want to use more battery while gaming on the go. Fortunately, game recording is disabled by default, as it should be.

Quoting: PikoloMonster Train is definitely the highlight - I've had that on my wishlist for a while!
Absolutely superb game. If you have a couple of mates to play with, I also recommend the dev's second game, Inkbound, too. I have nearly as many hours in Monster Train as I do Slay the Spire (although they're very different games, of course), but triple the time in Inkbound!
Interesting, never heard of Inkbound before. Might check it out!
Edit: Online required - that's not for me

Always allow the Steam client to fallback to X11 when SDL_VIDEODRIVER/SDL_VIDERO_DRIVER is set to wayland.
Is not great for testing if steam does work on wayland :/
