Trouble is brewing over on GOG due to the HITMAN release needing online for some features

(You really have just one attempt for such a mission, like perma-death extreme version, this adds a complete new dimension on how to approach such a mission ;) )

Quoting: ShmerlHitman has so called elusive targets missions, missions which are timely exclusive and can only be played once (I guess per online account). I could be wrong but for having this watertight I could imagine an always online connection helps a lot.Quoting: AnzaSo the point stands, there are online features in single player that make sense. They're not all there to spy on users (it's just that collecting telemetry is always a possibility with online connections).I'd say argument of anticheat for leaderboards is a very poor justification for requiring on-line connection for actual in-game features.

I’m not GOG user (had a very good time with Ferals port of this game) but I think they deserve their place, sad to see this avoidable sloppiness.

It didn't help that GOG did not mention any of this at release, simply slapping the usual "DRM FREE.This is where it went wrong in my opinion. So now there are unhappy customers due to not getting what they expected (drm-free in the sense of what the average GOG user makes of it) and an unhappy game studio/publisher which went for the extra mile to offer their game on GOG but got immediately faced with a backslash. I’m sure IO will remember this once the GOG discussion comes up for other titles :(

Quoting: GuestThere's still a lot of inertia to get past when it comes to the idea of supporting anything related to Linux, especially when it's management making the call. No matter how simple the switches are to flip, the question will be "Do we devote manpower to Linux when it's maybe 1% of the gaming market, and most of them probably dual-boot anyway?"The trick from the engineering side will be to sell management Steam Deck support without ever mentioning Linux.

(Yes, it’s very dark, takes a bit of time to adjust)

Quoting: AnorelsanI think Solus 4 uses the same theme/icon set. You can take a look here https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/solus-4-1-budgie.html [External Link] (not an article of mine, just searched the Internet and this popped up), I’m using the dark version, that page has screenshots of both the normal and the dark theme.Quoting: jensFirst thing I do with gnome is installing plata-noir theme (https://gitlab.com/tista500/plata-theme) and papirus icon theme (https://github.com/PapirusDevelopmentTeam/papirus-icon-theme). After that it is the perfect desktop for me. Small tip: learning the keyboard shortcuts makes life on Gnome way easier and using them imho fits much better into the intended way of working.Curiosity bites me... Can you post a screenshot please?
I'm using gnome 40 with some bits of 41 (Debian Unstable) and for me it's perfect with the dark theme :)

Quoting: SchattenspiegelVery cool, cannot top that mastery of language :)Quoting: jensDefine yourself with the things you love, not with the things you hate. And true to that spirit I shouted my rejection of it into the world, that my words may become real, and it shall not define me in any way shape or form henceforth. ;-)

Quoting: SchattenspiegelDefine yourself with the things you love, not with the things you hate.Quoting: constNope, I was just sharing my feelings when exposed to it - someone told me it's all about the feels these days ;-). Was not supposed to have an influence on your opinion. Feel free to like whatever you do, but be aware that, you liking it, does not mean it can not anger or confuse me.Quoting: SchattenspiegelJupp, that video captures the spirit of the DE - it leaves me similarly confused and angry.
Is DE bashing considered a hobby by now? Really boring.
I really like gnome shell but usually prefer alternative applications to stuff like Nautilus(?Files?), Evolution, etc. I'm currently on KDE, but maybe I'll switch back to gnome, soon :)

NVIDIA DLSS for Proton + Linux with DirectX 11 / 12 lands in September

Wine-staging already has `nvcuda`.
As far as I know, the already available 470 driver should be sufficient.

Quoting: ridgeSo, does anyone know if this can be implemented in "vanilla" Wine as well, or is it only a Proton thing? I don't want to use Steam, and some of my games such as No Man's Sky does indeed support DLSS.Proton or Wine also needs https://github.com/ValveSoftware/wine/pull/119 [External Link] next to the PRs mentioned in the OP.
