The Steam Hardware Survey for October 2018 shows a small drop for Linux, a look at daily and monthly active users

Quoting: dannielloSorry to say that, but Valve surveys are not reliable.
Because it does not show what you want to see? I think the numbers from the survey are much more realistic than one would think. I remember reading here that developers more or less confirmed these numbers in their sales.

Sure, less than 1% is far from cool, but I guess that is indeed our position.

The Steam Controller on Ubuntu 18.10 (and other distributions using Linux Kernel 4.18) needs a quick fix

Everything fine here on Fedora 29 (and last week on 28) with Steam and the Steam Controller.
I'm using Steam from https://negativo17.org/steam/ [External Link]

I could not resist Dark Souls III (75% off), I'll of course stick to Proton to make it count. To compensate I added Two Point Hospital (10% off) :)

And for a wealthy few, inclusion in the 410 drivers. :D
I would guess that those* few, including me, have to wait for a new short-term drivers version to appear. The 410 driver is a long term driver replacing the 390 series. I don't think that this (410) version will receive such a big feature update. But you never know ;)

* should it be "these" instead of "those" in proper English?
No, I don't think so. The "including me" bit sort of introduces a context shift, new information--up to that point you're still talking as if third person. If you wanted to convey that information without the "including me", you'd say "we few", as in "we happy few". Very Shakespearian.

"These" wouldn't really apply whichever way. The difference between "these" and "those" is subtle, having to do with, ah, immediacy more than anything else ("these" being the ones in front of me, as opposed to "those" over there across the room), but they're both third person. "Those of us" is a weird exception, but it only works in certain formations . . . "Those of us who (bla bla)" and like that.
Thanks a lot too, that should really help to remember the differences in the future.

PS: I really like reading your posts. Please keep your wordiness :). I'm really glad to see that there are still lots of people that can tell a coherent story with more than 140 characters.

Thanks a lot!
There's also "those of us" ~= "those among us", which you may have (also) been thinking about.

Example:
"Those of us who use GNU/Linux have a higher-than-normal tendency to care about software freedom." One would never use the word "these" (as in "these of us") in such a context, at least to my knowledge!

Having said that, you're welcome. :)
Thanks again for your examples, feels good to tweak my English. ;)

"I would guess that those few of us with NVidia cards have to wait for a new short-term driver version to appear." -> So this would work?

Edit: Reading my sentence again I guess I also missed "would" in the second part..

Quoting: Guest"These" if you are including yourself...

...I think. :dizzy:
Quoting: s8as8aI think it's "this" --> "singular nearby thing", "these" --> "plural nearby things", "that" --> "singular distant thing", "those" --> "plural distant things".

Possibly-helpful Examples:
1) This book, over here, seems good.
2) These books, over here, seem good.
3) That book, over there, seems good.
4) Those books, over there, seem good.

Edit:
What you said would probably be better stated as "The few of us [...]".
Thanks a lot!

I'm pretty sure you are correct ;). Although there is a book from Mr Jordan with that title, I guess this statement must have at least some relation with him. ;)
