Now if Steam would use their popularity to spread a statement together with more objective information about what’s actually happening in Ukraine ….

Quoting: TriasWhile I can understand what GOG is trying to do, I should say they aren't very good at explaining it to the customers. Yes, they wrote a statement, but that statement is somewhere at the bottom of the site, and on the second page already. And if I try to buy a game from them today (I'm from Belarus), I will only see that there is no box to enter my bank card number. No explanation, no link to the statement - simply no way to finish order. Looks like a site UI bug more than anything else. Thanks for that information, that sounds actually quite cheap from GOG :(. Let’s hope that they are still in the process to get this right and going to present their statement much more obvious and at the places where it counts.

Quoting: NociferThanks a lot. As you stated, those are still assumptions, but especially points 1 and 4 make a lot of sense.Quoting: jensDoes anybody knows what gave the push for KDE? I mean looking a bit from the outside, I would say Gnome Desktop seems more suitable for such a form factor incl. touch input.. or is the display without touch input?Yeah, it's a bit ironic that GNOME's oft disparaged for its touch-friendliness UI wasn't actually chosen for the first ever Linux touchscreen PC, but I guess Valve chose KDE for the following reasons:
(Just to be sure, I’m really not interested in opinions why KDE is better than Gnome or any other desktop or vice versa, that’s highly subjective, I’m just genuine interested in Valves thoughts and reasonings)
1) No corp backing or directly controlling the development, which means it's much easier to influence the project and bring it closer to your vision without having to resort to out-of-tree patches and enhancements.
2) More configurable.
3) More similar to Windows.
4) Based on Qt, which is cross-platform, which means all in-house improvements and add-ons are much easier to integrate with all platforms (let's not forget that Windows is still the dominant gaming platform, and thus Valve's dominant cash cow, by far). Also, Steam is written in Qt, which means there is precedence of both experience with and preference for that toolkit. This makes KDE as a tech stack even more desirable compared to GTK and GNOME.

But… can I connect and use a Valve Index with it? :)
But seriously, great article and the device seems to deliver. Fingers crossed that it will live for a long time.

Quoting: ZlopezDo you know that this works with TR2013 or is this just an assumption?Quoting: jensI'm noticing the black structures as well. Really sad since this was the first AAA game I had completed on Linux, loved nearly every minute of that game. They should be compatible. It shouldn't matter if you are playing Proton or native version of the game, the save game format should be the same.
Is there a way to keep the save games when switching to the Proton version?

KDE Plasma continues improving to stop you breaking things

PS: Spotify is also on flathub/flatpak, that’s even more convenient if you dare to use flatpak :)

Quoting: STiAT[edit] they even have a steam repo... with nvidia and steam I'm well done, I think I can switch properly to their repos. They even have Spotify. Steam, Spotify, NVidia are usually my software issues ... all covered. Nice. The multimedia repo also contains all smaller repos, so just including this one should be sufficient for your use case.

I prefer those above rpm fusion, it feels more curated and a bit more modern. It already has the 510 driver.

Quoting: STiATAt least I have Fedora and NVidia who keep their promise of breaking things (especially in that combination, as fedora people pushed 5.16.5 kernel fully aware they'll fuck over nvidia users, and rpmfusion was too slow with the 5.10 driver. But well, Fedora gives nothing for proproetary drivers and we can run old kernels too. There is also negativo17 for Fedora, https://negativo17.org/nvidia-driver/ [External Link] or https://negativo17.org/multimedia/ [External Link] .
If KDE stabilizes, I still have NVidia and their proprietary crap to break things for good. I am very happy with my setup, but I wished I could have gotten my hands on a AMD card ... which was simply not possible then.
