Techland Working On Modding Tools For Dying Light, New Patch Possibly Soon
10 Feb 2015 at 7:36 pm UTC

Quoting: barottoThe game is currently unplayable for me with an i7-2600 + 16GB + gtx970 + SSD ... ~20fps in outside areas. Fortunately the game has been gifted to me, otherwise I would be very pissed off.
We need a fix. Soon.
Just turn down the view distance to minimum. It's fully playable for me on my 980.

Quoting: scaineFor those of you complaining about the framerate, have you tried a SteamOS session yet? I've mentioned it a few times in these threads, but no-one has corroborated the big jump in framerate I see when I install the SteamOS session in Ubuntu.
Running on steamOS here with the latest Nvidia Drivers and the game is actually really smooth. I haven't tried this game outside of steamOS so I cannot speak to that.

Also, this latest patch has reduced/almost elimated the frame dips I used to experience when a large amount of zombies were near.

Dying Light Patch Released, Our Thoughts On It, Still Terrible

My personal Experiences:

SteamOS Update 153
Latest Nvidia Drivers as of 02/01/2015
i5 4670K @ 4.0Ghz
16GB 1866Mhz DDR3 Ram
250GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD
GTX 980

Initally there was an issue with the characters all having silver/grey clothing. I did some digging and found that this perticular issue could be solved by updating the nvidia drivers, and so I did. The game does have some random OpenGL Rendering issues (Known Problem), and I do have to agree that the blur effect used is TOO DAMN MUCH, especially without the ability to turn it off. Other than that my game ran 60+ fps on Ultra without a problem, until slightly before/ after I went outside the tower. There I found the framrate to completly tank. Not quite slideshow slow, but deffiantly very sluggish. Rather than trying the tweaks posted on here, I decided to see what I could do to increase performance from within the game. The first thing I did was bring view distance all the way down to the minimum, and you know what? My framerate soared. It's now very fluid in all of my initial tests from just right outside of the tower. I'm going to do some more testing after I get some sleep.

Quoting: GuestLooks good. I hope the room with the yellow cubes is only a small part of the game.
Yellow??? Did you forget to turn flux off?

Edit: After watching the video I now see the yellow cubes. :)

Quoting: n30p1r4t3Isn't steamos still on 3.10?
Yeah, that is what it looks like on their GitHub page.
If it is SteamOS that their are showing, it is weird how they don't actually say "SteamOS" though
naah.. how many times it has to be said..its the distro that has no lsb-release package installed..
you can try it easily with uninstalling this package and checking steam hardware info.

you can also try different distros in vbox and test it
Did I say SteamOS was THAT distro? I was merely asking a question as I haven't had time to update my steamOS install.

FYI, you may want to fix the wording on the "Avatar page." ;) Also, the spacing and just general feel of that page leaves something to be desired.
