Steam now has a form of platform-specific wishlisting, to help developers see demand

Remember that if you are worried about friends buying you a gift that's Windows only, it is possible to not accept it and it should be returned. But I know, it's flawed and I see another flaws people mentioned here. It's a good sign, but I really hope it will be improved! Right now I set my preferences to Linux only (had all the platforms before), and re-added a few key games there anyway, glad Valve are at least trying!

Quoting: De1m0sI did not knew, there's a 2.21 staging; on their news page, 2.19 is the last version.
Is there a change-log somewhere from this version?
For some reason, they didn't update their site for the two last releases of wine-staging, but you can see the latest releases marked on their github where you can also check what each commit did (no overall changelog though)

Valve has added 11 new currencies to the Steam Store

Quoting: hardpenguinSome games are not available for purchase at all in new currency regions due to the change. I hope this will be fixed soon!

Yes. The problem is that the developers have to set the prices themselves. While it will hopefully get ironed out, it will prove troublesome for games that no longer get active care from developer/publisher.

Wine 2.21 is out with Direct 3D indirect draws support, also fixes for The Witcher 3 and NieR:Automata

Quoting: wojtek88How does the NieR: Automata perform like? In Wine DB I can see it's silver. Does anyone managed to play the game?
Didn't look at the report and I don't even have Nier, but anything over garbage should mean that it's at least playable at least after workaround (though not everything may work/be tested and glitches and heavy performance issues can exist)

A new Steam Client Beta fixes Linux desktop and menu shortcuts, adds pre-compiled GPU shaders for Vulkan

Quoting: linuxjacquesHave the fixed the "remember password" bug yet?

It's been like six months and I've stopped checking.

Here's me again thinking it's on my side lol. Steam sometimes remember my credential, sometimes not and sometimes forgets my entire username, but I also recently had some problems with my filesystem corrupting files, so I thought it was due to that. Glad to know it might not be that, though.

Quoting: CAPTNCAPSCan we have them fix Steam cancelling System shutdown?
Super annoying to have to click shutdown twice, because clicking the first time only closes Steam >_>
And I was wondering what was wrong with my wife's OS that we had to click the XFCE's shutdown button twice to shut the system down while I didn't had this issue (I'm typing "shutdown now" to close or "reboot" to reboot the system, as Pependos does. Thanks for letting us know the culprit!

Now, one can probably only dream about a 64-bit client as well, I guess? Today steam-native stopped working for my wife after update due to lack of another 32-bit library (lib32-libvdpau) missing – I guess the package wouldn't be needed if the client were 64-bit as it wasn't installed lol. That and obvious other 64-bit advantages such as not needing multilib for non-wine users and some potential performance benefits.

Also, it would be nice if they finally change the skinning engine to use native skin – while acceptable for normal desktop environment, on my i3 tiling manager, Steam is the only application that still have the minimize/maximize/close buttons that are out of reach if Steam screen is only taking half the space and it doesn't have a keybinding to close either, making me need to maximize it before closing lol.

I tried Wurm Unlimited and it was a painful experience

I, on the other hand, felt love in the game, although we are currently playing with wife on a local LAN server.

After reading the review first and being prepared for some fullscreen shenanigans and performance troubles I was surprised I didn't had any – I simply didn't bother even trying setting the game full scereen in client and let my WM handle it and it works really smooth with fullscreen and no UI issues.

Performance is solid 60 FPS on every option except antliasing maxed (I set it on 2) and post-process disabled (I don't like it) on my GTX 960 and Intel i5-4690k.

Also knowing I couldn't trust popping up tutorial messages I didn't trust learning my game on them, but later on I found they are accessible from a separate "Book of Wisdom" UI element at any time.

The game have a hard initial learning curve, but once you get past it and get used to controls and UI (which are actually quite customizable which I really liked!) it's really rewarding and fun. Luckily both in-game and external Wurmpedia are quite helpful.

So, if you can get past the initial few hours of learning the ropes and have someone to play, it's a really nice game under the hood and after 52 hours as of writing I'm hooked into the game :)
