If you have anything to test, I will test it when I get it.
For now the Smach Z Pro has been cheaper than the WIN2 for me. The WIN2 added VAT to the import, which made it much more expensive than the Smach Z Pro, as the Smach Z is build in europe. So there is no import duties, nor VAT anymore.
The WIN2 has been lying dead for a while waiting for a replacement battery, and in my eyes is not really intended for Linux usage. The BIOS is not exactly good, and needed a lot of kernel workarounds to get the matching of the BIOS quirks working.

Fortresscraft Evolved [External Link] is still eating away at my CPU. I feel like it's too addictive, I need to step back for a month or so. But I need to automate that last part to be able to process all free resources.
Dominatrix simulator is too hard on my thinkpad T430 with R9-270 as expresscard eGPU to submit to. I had to use the save word.

Nice, then I might need an upgrade of my NVidia hardware too on my laptop. Oh wait...
But are they seriously going to support 3 or 4 revisions of NVidia drivers on LTS? (Mostly depends on which generation NVidia decided to stop supporting your hardware).
Or is this only for the latest generation?

The former Paradox Interactive CEO thinks "platform holders" 30% cut is "outrageous"

So I always buy DRM free. And they are indeed cheaper than physical books.

Quoting: GuestBut -for what it's worth- i recall posts i had read from BOOK publishers who explained why their ebooks were actually not cheaper than the paper ones. It was because the infrastructure to distribute them was more expensive. Networks of computer did cost them more than printing presses, paper and shipping. The computer people paid to maintain such infrastructure was more expensive than librarians. That's true, if you use DRM. They have to pay DRM license, hosting at adobe and whatever kind of crap they pull to keep it locked down. It's false if your books are DRM free.
So I always buy DRM free. And they are indeed cheaper than physical books.

If Valve did not exist, we were probable locked into a store with DX10 as the best graphics API, paying $120 for a game.
People need to adjust to the idea that development costs money, and Valve can take a fee from a sale to pour that into development. In return the development usually benefits all.
Wine took huge leaps, and wine is also used on androids to play old windows games (with an x86 emulation layer).
If this continues, we could be playing DX12 games on android, without involvement of Valve...
So yeah, all those other stores should first make a list of unselfish contributions they made to the gaming industry.
If none, screw them.
For now it is Steam, GOG, humblebundle or itch.io that I will be supporting. In that order though, I am lazy.

Quoting: gradyvuckovicI feel like so many people, including the Paradox CEO and Epic Games CEO, just completely ignore the fact that it's not strictly a 30% cut on purpose and just feel the need to constantly say '30%' as a form of misinformation. They also seem to leave out any information about what Valve is actually spending money on, what none of the other companies are doing: R&D... open R&D that benefit those other companies too.

The only reason I install windows, is to RE drivers, so I can run software on linux only :-). And it has come a long way... I really hated it, because the whole Microsoft clueless people world made my life as a software developer a living hell. These days, you can run bash, ssh and rsync, which is good enough to rsync the logfiles to a more userfriendly environment and process the logs.

Quoting: KimyrielleI would be super scared about the state of Linux gaming without Steam Play. Let's be honest, our platform isn't gaining any momentum whatsoever.
Why don't you stick with linux?
I want to play games tooThat's the argument I hear most. With most games available in an easy way, there is nothing holding back the more tech savvy, that need linux for their work.

Valve has earned their 30% steam tax. It's a good tax, because Valve is ensuring the future of gaming. None of the other companies are really that interested into working on the future of gaming for the community (including for the competitors).
