A Linux beta of X4: Foundations is due in 'the next few days' (update: it's up)

I own X2, X3 the limited edition version (signed by the porter, and a shirt tucked in in an X) since they came out. I rebought those versions on steam, and then could actually play them because egosoft redid the ports correctly. But it's such an immense universe, I have to page out a lot of other games for a year, just to be able to play and control these series :-(.
So I never have.
Should start with rebirth then :-).

Quoting: peta77P.S. I don't understand why everyone (or at least many people) hated X-Rebirth... I'm relatively new to the X-Series and X-Rebirth gave me a wonderful introduction to the whole thing, being able to actually play it. X3 was kind of a small desaster in that respect (when being able to play a game needs to look for tutorials on the web and watch a couple of introductory videos, I don't think that's something to be called user-friendly)Ah, thanks for that insight!

I did buy a few series. I am waiting for their player to make it easy to see what you have watched, and what is the next episode. Currently I can't, so the series are collecting dust.
Currently all I can see is 20 times the same icon, and the beginning of the series title. So yeah, 20 times the same. Actually more times the same. No grouping or other obvious things.
If the library was not such a joke I would have bought a lot of series a long time ago.

For fortresscraft evolved thats 1500 hours on my first world that I started in 2015, and that I am still busy building in, with some hiatus spend on other (openworld) games and playing with my dj sets on linux.

Quoting: DMGWhat exactly is goal in this game?To me, the goal of any openworld "survival" game is to extend my stay as long as possible.

Pfff, the X series seems so incredibly cool to play, so that's why I have all the linux versions.
Just to play them...
I really must sit down and try it some time...
The biggest space game I've ever playes was freespace 2. But that was awesome.
(not counting no man's sky as a space game)

I think this actually supports what I was saying: stop linux opengl ports, but do a windows vulkan port instead on the common engines. And then export to linux.
So what I am saying: vulkan first, linux next.
Despite what I just said, I do welcome every linux port. I'd rather play a bad opengl port than native vulkan still using proton. But for the developers concentrating on vulkan might be better, especially since you can expect a lot of hate from some of the 31337 uberhacker linux users when the opengl port is sub par.

Another Steam Client Beta is out, adds the ability to force Steam Play

I have mixed feelings, but I am actually kind of glad it is possible to force it. Because I like choice.
The best thing would be statistics that proof that the native renderer is better.
But the ultimate goal (to me) would be a platform agnostic game. Just look at the current windows API as a middleware layer that gets thinner and thinner.

Quoting: LeopardWell, that's Valve. You make the choice how you want to get the best of the game, as long as you are using Steam.Quoting: Cr1ogenif they want to force Linux games to work with Steamplay because they do not use windows directly? I think it's a step backwards in the fight that Valve has been doing for Linux usersNo , with this way Valve guarentees a good gaming experience for Linux users.
Example: A Linux user bought the MotoGPX3 game ( native VP port) but performance wise game is beaten by DXVK with a big margin.
So user can use Windows version without dealing Steam on Lutris.
Valve provides you choice and says " Use what you want"

Quoting: dpanterMulti-monitor G-Sync in Linux... yeah. Kill me now.I completely support your rant on nvidia and dual monitor. They somehow always must make it so that it doesn't work like it is supposed to work.
TLDR: Multi-monitor G-Sync in Linux sucks goat nads. My next card will be AMD. Period.

I don't know how that list is compiled. I miss GTA V/online, ARK, and a few others.
I mean: common, a list without GTA V is just incomplete.

I love what they have achieved so far. And how the community has been able to fuck the physics and create very interesting space ships at a moment that it was not even on the table.
That's probably the biggest advancement so far to be able to load another persons design.
The game in itself is very difficult due to very advanced physics and "microbuilding" of vehicles. In that respect it's more advanced than planet explorers.
I did not care for multiplayer that much, but after seeing what NMS now has in place (small cooperating teams) it doesn't seem that bad.
But I have a hard time on planet nomads to see a goal, except for my standard goal: to build the biggest (moving!) base ever. With trains and stuff like that.
I wish that the developers of NMS, PN, FcE and PE got together and develop the most complete game.
