That video makes me look damn stupid... Guess it's just like ark... you die a lot. Then watch a few videos, then start over and do it good. Although I did not need to start over with ark. Still playing since 2015, except that my first bed is now in the cold snow biome and it was an almost insta kill. Being level 94 now I can visit my old habitat. Fun to see I tried plot farming, but I didn't know how.

Steam now has over 3,500 games for Linux, with GOG having over 700

To those that think GOG was polish based. That's true. As another said, this is just a tax and or responsibility evasion scheme. GOG is indeed polish, as when they tried to hire programmers, one of the requirements was that you would be able to work on location in <insert polish city>.

AMD RX Vega GPUs released along with a new AMDGPU-PRO Driver

According to phoronix the preliminary opensource drivers work better than the closed source drivers.
Next to that: in some benchmarks it outperforms the price equivalent nvidia cards.
As such I am pretty inclined to get one, as nvidia has been anti-development by locking in game developers with stuff that only works correctly on nvidia as nvidia neglects opengl conformance in a way that forces you to buy an nvidia as other drivers do conform to opengl and just throw errors.
"It cannot be my engine as it works perfectly on nvidia".
And let's not talk about patent abuse.
So yeah, these cards and the phoronix tests are bringing tears to my eyes...
It's like voodoo3, but just let's hope ati/amd will make it.

Ark.
That's pretty much the only thing I played this year.

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLFor me this shop is more interesting than buying on Steam. Why? Because Steam not have my currency and I need to pay in Euros. For example in local store I can buy game BOX+SteamKey for 100 PLN (about 24 euro), when I buy in local internet store only steamkey I pay about 80 PLN (about 19 euro).
It might be worth it to invest in a bit of bitcoin...
The current problem is that with the rise of bitcoins popularity the transaction costs are equally rising. So buying anything might set you another $1 of transaction cost back.

The latest Steam Client Beta now supports shader cache management on Linux & more
26 Jul 2017 at 12:04 pm UTC

Individual shaders are tracked and catalogued by the Steam servers in preparation for distributing pre-compiled shaders.
Wow, they can actually go ahead an make the biggest distributed (shader) compiler (cache) on the world... Just hash and upload the hashes and binaries, and those with the highest matching scores can be used by others (to prevent foul play).

Quoting: elmapulit shows how canonical or other linux vendor can enter in the market of operating systems, and why we cant ignore the AR and voice market
At least afaik we have the blind/braille market, as for braille comes natural to linux 8-D.

https://www.polygon.com/features/2017/4/12/15257842/jeri-ellsworth-profile-castar-valve [External Link]
Jeri Ellsworth is a real hacker. As such she was hired and had a team to research augmented reality and such, making it man-years of research. When Valve concluded that augmented reality would not aid their business, they fired Jeri, and sold her the rights to her teams research for $100 (they couldn't actually legally give it away, so a symbolic $100 was asked).
Jeri is still pursuing her idea of augmented in CastAR, which shows promisse, but also that it barely touches Valves immediate core business.

Guys, I am having trouble with the term indie and AAA.
Of indie I know they are not sponsored by a big publisher. Does that mean that AAA is sponsored by a big publisher? As I cannot really see any other difference. And since AAA and indie seems like mutually exclusive in about any argumentation the only difference is where the money comes from.
So you know what: I don't care about AAA or indie. It's certainly not about eye candy or playability.

I love Rutger. Ever since I've seen "turks fruit" and "soldaat van oranje" and "spetters". Never seen "floris" though. I wasn't born then.
