Speaking of SDL the website for it desperately needs an update and could use a donate button.
"But you could donate to Ryan's Patreon though" no when I donate to an open source project it's to the project that I donate not to a single individual so the absence of the donation button is concerning.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI watched a gameplay video. It's not like Invisible, Inc. at all. There is very little tactical gameplay, it's an almost entirely strategic game. You send your agents to different countries, assign them to do actions (finding scientists, bribing people, investigating diplomats for weaknesses and blackmail info), have them do hacking to get information. You have meetings with organizations and countries and try to get better relationships or get them to do things for you. If you piss off another country bad enough it could declare war on yours; I'm not sure what happens then but it seems to be a bad idea. Seems like clumsy operations can also piss off the authorities in your own country and then they won't support you as much or something. There's a sort of minigame if you try to kidnap a scientist, but even there it's like a series of little decisions on how to bypass the cops, there's no real tactical action. Meanwhile, every turn you get a little "Here's your Sigma tech tree progress" update, which is what the whole spy game is really about maximizing--you want to steal scientists, bribe or seduce them into sending you data and so on, so as to get ahead of the other countries in the race for supertech.Pretty much Fibre Tigre's own flair of "choose your own adventure video game style" way of making games. Now if only Mi-Clos had Fibre Tigre to do the writing and for gameplay somebody able to pull of "touchscreen friendly" X-COM like gameplay this would be a marriage made in heaven in my eyes ^^
It does look interesting, but it's very different from what I was imagining.

Ironically I found the campaign rather short . And the various maps a bit samey . I'd like to see expansions coming with more maps to play in and add variety and also the freeplay to kind of being the end goal of the campaign itself.
Oh well at least the game is colourful and laugh out loud ridiculous like its illustrious progenitor was.

Most the gameplay they have in mind really don't suit a controller.
So yeah don't be too surprised that the UI looks real touch devices friendly.

Quoting: ixnariLooks like my kind of game, but watching the trailer I kept thinking I was looking at a mobile game. Maybe it's because of the chunky UI.Mi-Clos always try to bridge the gap between PC and Mobile because they touch both markets and are trying to stay away from consoles for the time being.

Quoting: EikeWelp I held off from biting on this one but looks like I was not the only one being annoyed :PQuoting: Guestedit: Moreover, this is not a Linux issue - other than the fact that the game has a Linux build, the poster hasnt even mentioned Linux.Would you allow us to look over the fence?

Aspyr Media are getting a little help from Intel for the long-delayed Linux patch to Civilization VI

Personnnaly I'm on Intel + Nvidia laptop most of the time and no Aspyr ports picks up my GPU not a single one of them. And of course they were not exactly of any help at all. Sooo I'd like to see them up their game a little because their track reccord is iffy at best for me.
According to Kotaku, Microsoft is close to buying Obsidian

Quoting: tmtvlkotaku lol.Except that we're talking about a Jason Schreier article ... you know the guy who barely publishes rumors like these unless he is sure that his info are correct. So yeah Kotaku I don't trust in general except when it's Jason reporting because this guys has good sources and is rarely wrong...
So chances of MS actually buying Obsidian are like... what, ~3%?

Quoting: KristianAccording to this Raven was acquired in 1997: https://variety.com/1997/biz/news/activision-set-to-acquire-raven-1116676216/ [External Link]Ummm then I'll have to go back on my magazines that were talking about the buisness side of video games around the time of ater the release of Quake 4 but I remember starkly a long article about the fallout of Quake 4 powerfully bombing . Where they lost a lot of their creative independence.
Edit:
From Activison's annual report in 1998: "ENHANCE PRODUCT FLOW. In order to expand the Company's library of titles, intellectual property rights and talent base, the Company
is actively engaged in the exploration of acquisition opportunities in
the software development business. Consistent with this strategy, in
August 1997 the Company acquired Raven Software Corporation ("Raven"),
an entertainment software developer based in Madison, Wisconsin, that
has created numerous best selling titles, including HERETIC, HEXEN:
BEYOND HERETIC and HEXEN II."
Edit 2:
From the same report: "ACQUISITION OF RAVEN SOFTWARE CORPORATION
On August 26, 1997, the Company completed its acquisition of Raven
Software Corporation ("Raven") in exchange for 1,040,000 shares of the
Company's common stock. This transaction was accounted for as an
immaterial pooling; accordingly, periods prior to April 1, 1997 were
not restated retroactively for this transaction. However, weighted
average shares outstanding and earnings per share data were
retroactively restated for the affect of the Raven acquisition for all
periods presented."
