Quoting: Nanobang1. The name Black Powder, Red Earth is poetry. Straight up.

2. I find the idea of playing on the side of a "dictatorship of a failing petrostate" to be only slightly more disheartening than playing "a brutal jihadist insurgency" opposing it. Which is to say, I don't want to play either side, neither fascist capitalist henchmen or fanatical religious thugs. Blech.
LOL
Curios if they even get it on steam with that jihadist vibe.
Then again C^C Generlas did have the GLA

Honestly would be curios how dark and cynical this game can be with those sides.
To me it sounds like they are tryign to recreate some middle eastern nation. A lot of them had insurgencies and their governments aren't exactly saintly.

Pretty sure some of those PCs are worth more than my car :(

Quoting: 14I had Rise of Nations as well. I bought it for the hype. If I remember correctly, it never made it out of the shrink wrap. See, I started out with RTS on PC. (I was truly a console kid first.) It was Red Alert that made me a PC gamer instead of console only. From there, it was Age of Empires II and then Empire Earth, C&C: Generals, Battle for Middle Earth, Warcraft 3, a little bit of Starcraft (wasn't a big fan). I eventually focused on shooters and lost interest in RTS. Perhaps it was for the reasons eldaking brings up. I have surprisingly not contemplated it. But it was always comp stomps for me. I had no interest in an RTS campaign. The only one I played was Starcraft II, and that was very worthwhile.

I've lately been itching a lot to buy and play Northgard. It looks more like the pace of an RTS of old rather than a cut-throat game like SC2.
I had a choice of console when i was a kid. Glad I told my dad no and stuck to PC.
I didn't like shooters when i was young since I was scared (lol) but I did like RTS since the fight seemed far away and with AOE games you had a lot of economy going and could do stuff besides fight.
My favorite RTS games were the ones with a good campaign that draws you in , explains the mechanics as you go and then playing skirmish versus bots.
Few of my friends liked RTS.

I heard some stories about this one.
Seems some mods took it into a really dark direction.
Curio if this gets up to parif there will be enough of a community around it to keep it going.

:woot: I forgot about that one! I don't recall if I played the campaign, but I played cooperatively with my friends many a time. I loved it!

I had no care for RTS campaigns back in the teenage days. The idea was strange to me. I loved comp stomps though.
IT was fun and quite unique
I like the second one added even more races to play.
What I hated was the campaign in the first one.
The story missions were awesome. Defending Minas Tirith. Attacking Helm's Deeps with an army of Uruks. All awesome
What was not so awesome was defending Entmoot 10 times in a row.
Emperor Battle For dune and Warhammer Dark Crusade/soulstorm had the same tihng. A campaign made up of skirmish maps with a few story missions thrown in. Defending gets repetitive quickly. /rant over

I think I stopped playing RTS games when multiplayer became the focus. Warcraft 2 was probably my last one.
Oh i wish these work with Proton but you missed out on so much buddy :(

Warcraft 3 had a great story
as did Starcraft 2
Age of Mythology had a nice story as well
Red alert 2 was silly(as in humor) but still a very fun game
Tiberium Wars was also a pretty decent story , and possibly the last decent C&C game
Lord of the Rings Battle For Middle Earth - awesome story (though campaing was repetitive)

Agree with the other people here.
Focusing too much on multiplayer won't work.
Make a good single player game and allow people to play online if they want.
Playing with friends can be great. I still play the original Majesty with friends on and off again on weekends.

Another good point is that there are too many games and you can't guarantee a player base.

Does this game even support dedicated/private servers ? or are you reliant on their own ?
