Quoting: x_wingSo they remove this game because it requires an online connection to play some missions but they will still have other games that you can only play multiplayer if and only if you have galaxy client. They can apologize all what they want but this smells more like a PR damage control.
For what I gather IO was blocking single player modes with online due to the modes having leaderboards.
There are plenty of games (also on gog) that have daily challenges with leaderboards that only work with an online connection. The only difference is that you can apparently earn starting costumes and items for the normal game with that. Not entirely sure because I never cared about those things. It does seem a bit overblown to me, but everybody knows how crazy people can get for simple things like cosmetic items.
Precisely, IO really dropped the ball with the implementation, I mean Streets of Rage 4 (Linux build) in GOG doesn't have online yet I can access the weekly challenges

Trouble is brewing over on GOG due to the HITMAN release needing online for some features

Honestly I don't get how needing to be online to access online features is a problem, I mean if anything the problem lies on how the game was designed.

What I don't understand is why they didn't added the note of it needing to be connected to the internet even when they have previously done it in other games (Victor Vran & Battletech come to mind, as they need and external account to play online), so my guess is that they just received the binaries and uploaded them without checking?
I mean, I don't know how many of you guys remember the broken Linux LIVER build of Death Road to Canada (were you couldn't even run the game past the title screen) so I cannot really see this coming from a place of malice, but incompetence.

I'm biased, not gonna hide it, but always online is kind of what you're going to deal with if you want online games, is it not? Prison Architect comes to mind, who is responsible of the addition of the Paradox launcher, GOG or Paradox? should GOG just remove the game from the store once it was updated?

Take-Two filed a lawsuit against the reverse-engineered GTA III and Vice City developers

Quoting: slaapliedjeExclusivity only happens because $Company pays $Publisher enough to not let others play their game. At least back in the day there was some sort of 'well this platform is more capable and that's why we published it there, as the experience of the game will be crap on other systems...' We no longer have that barrier at all!
Nowadays the only excuse they should have for exclusives is if X company owns the studio, but they'll continue to do it as long as studios accept the deals.

Quoting: DaiKaiser93Speaking about Nightdive, what happened to the Linux version of Blood: Flesh Supply? Anyone knows if the new Powerslave Exhumed will also be Windows only?
I've heard that Atari stopped funding Blood: Flesh Supply, thus it remains Windows-only and glitchy. But it seems Nightdive Studios decided to abandon Linux and Mac by themselves too. All their latest games are Windows-only (Quake, Shadow Man, Doom 64…) At least they run fine on Proton…
Bummer, guess I'll stick with nBlood
