Quoting: BlackBloodRumFeel like giving this writer a penguin slap with a wet fish. The whole "The OS is built on Proton" bit sounds like the writer has no idea of what Proton is, that or he thought calling it a compatibility layer would confuse people. I personally would have gone with "although Steam OS is built of Linux, it comes packed with Proton, an utility that allows Windows games to run on it seamlessly" or something along those words.
The OS is built on proton? Proton is a version of Linux? Grrr so much inaccuracy.
I really wish IGN would fact check and research before they write!
There's other problems with their writing too but this is just an example of an immediate in your face mistake.
So please Liam help us out here! :D

Quoting: toorI'm not currently running Endeavour (switched to Pop), but I remember running the binary with "ldd" to list the dependencies and hunt them down, also make sure you have vulkan installed as it only runs in vulkan.Quoting: DaiKaiser93I'm trying to run the GOG version on EndeavourOS and I get:I have the same error. Quoting: toojaysI got up to the last or second to last mission in the original, must go and finish it off sometime. It's an excellent game.I'm playing the GOG version, no worries I managed to make it work.
Quoting: DaiKaiser93Does anyone know how to get the original game to recognize a Xbox One Controller?I haven't played it in a while, but I played almost all of it on a XBone controller via the Steam Link. I don't recall having to do anything special to get that working.

Does anyone know how to get the original game to recognize a Xbox One Controller?
EDIT: Was able to make the game recognize the controller, I just had to enable XOW compatibility mode (by editing xow.service) and after the reboot the controller was detected as a 360 pad

Quoting: soulsourceCan confirm it runs on Mint too.Quoting: DaiKaiser93Weird indeed. That the character moves, I mean, not the startup issue, which can easily be explained by librtmp being installed.Quoting: soulsourceHad some fun with the GOG version...That's weird, it installed and played just fine on Manjaro.
Not only does it try to load librtmp.so (which I haven't installed - can easily be worked around by not using the bundled libraries -> commenting out the LD_LIBRARY_PATH line in run.sh ), also the character doesn't move in the tutorial.
I'm quite certain that's related to a script error after a sound sample cannot be found. Took me a while to figure this out, but it can be worked around by downloading the Windows version, installing it via WINE, and replacing the Linux install's game.unx file with the data.win file from the Windows install...
Now it seems to work, but I must confess, that I'm more and more inclined to buy at Steam, where games tend to "just work™".
There are also other people having that bug: https://www.gog.com/forum/loop_hero/linux_player_doesnt_move [External Link]

The Linux build isn't available on GOG at the moment, the store page marks "Linux version available soon".
EDIT: Just got back from work, the Linux build is up.
