Here's where this overall "ode to imagination" theme falls apart in our opinion. Really? The kid is entertaining himself with the power of his own imagination only because he's lost his console and as a means to recover it?
I kind of like the irony to that aspect of Sword 'N' Board actually; how about an Ode to imagination thriving with video games, the sort of imagination that makes you grow up and design innovative video games ;)

I've seen Gameolith negotiate exclusive deals for distributing the Linux version of a game, in which case another cross-platform distributor doesn't help, but that probably doesn't cover all the cases. Do you have any specific games in mind?

Yes, good old Loki version of Heroes III which I played on my PPC iBook!

It was much nicer than fighting with wine to get Heroes V to play at all, with plenty of funky graphics artifacts :(

Quoting: fscherrerWhat about [Tales of Terrene](http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kortexstudios/tales-of-terrene)? It was part of the The Funding Crowd 11 here
It seems really great, but with 7 days to the end it gets only $2,328 from $10,000 :/
Sorry to disappoint, but I was working this weekend (and will be for a while now) and didn't have time for more entries -- a few that looked like major long-shots got cut (I have a soft spot for adventure games, but Precinct didn't make the cut either, especially since Linux is a stretch goal)

Quoting: GuestUhm, I'm a bit puzzled.  So I can buy this from GMG, and will get a key(?).  But where do I get the game?  GMG doesn't mention Linux at all.  So will there just be a non-mentioned Linux download in the link location they send? Any info on the requirements (libs etc.)?
I assume you'll get a link, since kickstarter backers got emailed a link that has Linux download. The same activation key works for any of the platforms.

No special dependencies were needed, at least on Ubuntu 12.04 partitions where I play Unity-based games (being the officially supported distro for Unity 4)

Quoting: KristianYeah Unreal Engine 1.x and 2.x supported Linux, but there is no official support for UE3 or UE4. Even though UE3 was gonna be the first version with even the tools having Linux support. Epic's regression in the Linux arena is one of the biggest setbacks Linux gaming has endured in the past several years. id Software too.
It's my impression that UE3 currently has Linux support in the engine, only most of the full licensees don't care enough to use it, and Indies using the affordable UDK aren't able to make use of it. Recently Dungeon Defenders was being advertised as the first UE3 game running natively on Linux, and reports here said that it even works decently

Back in the old days Unreal Tournament worked quite well on my Linux box, so it's nice to see news of Linux support making a return.

Quoting: KristianFrom the Crazy World of Action Cat Kickstarter page: "Created in UDK for PC, MAC, and LINUX"

How is this possible? AFAIK UDK doesn't support Linux. UDK supporting Linux would be huge news!
Interesting question...
Unreal Engine itself supported Linux in the past, and recently it has been supporting it again, but I have not seen news that the free UDK is able to generate Linux builds. Seems Unrealistic that a Hidden Gem would have the budget to license the full Unreal Engine tools to generate a Linux build -- maybe someone will ask the project creator to clarify.
