Quoting: GuestI prefer to design real circuit boards now. EAGLE even runs on Linux (at least, until Autodesk destroy it completely)KiCAD is what you are looking for.
Looks like Harebrained Schemes are working on the Linux build of BATTLETECH now

If feral showed up some months after the windows only release of Battletech and annouce a port, we would cheer and rightfully so. Here they promised Linux support from the beginning and then delayed it.
Sure it's better then nothing, but it does not 'taste' good.
I'd rather not look forward to something then being let down and judging by the comments I am not alone. And this will hurt the sale and thus probably the future Linux support. But I consider spending money as voting. And I do not vote for delayed ports because of reasons others have mentioned.
Often the Linux release comes together with a sale, as if to say sorry. And then the money made by a delayed Linux release on sale gets compared to the day 1 with all the hype.

Quoting: liamdaweWhile it sucks it had a delay, it is still coming. We should still show companies our love and support for bothering in the first place (as long as the game doesn't suck obviously), the amount of companies that act like Linux doesn't exist is ridiculous (for various reasons, not arguing the reasons behind them doing so). There's a difference between the original developer or a third part doing the port.
It is true a delayed release can hurt sales, absolutely, but let's not make that so because we're turning our noses up at it just because it was delayed. Imagine if the majority did the same for Aspyr or Feral releases, which can be years after the Windows game release, we would be fucked.

You're right, we should just be getting back to playing games and ignoring the identity politics. But some developers are not, they're caving in and trying to make their games more 'inclusive'. Which will end up with more and more demands.
- You need more pronouns
- You need more skincolor options
- You have too many black and not enough native people (Far Cry 5..)
- You can't show a sexy ass, that's objectifying ..
As long as there are SJWs pushing their joy-killing agenda I'm afraid we need the Anti-SJWs.
Thanks for the heads up on the issue, not buying infected products.

System76 have announced a new Oryx Pro laptop model and it's a bit of a beast
3 May 2018 at 8:00 pm UTC
there is for example this: https://www.pcspecialist.ch/notebooks/recoil-II-15/ [External Link]
you can choose no OS and save 100.- specs look comparable (battery is smaller) to the onyx pro. If you don't care about the support from system 76 you can even shave off another 200.-
For me the most important part is not paying for a windows license i am never going to use.
Oh and the fact I can get the Swiss keyboard, which you can't from S76 (I asked..)

Quoting: jasonridesabikeThis is the laptop that's bringing me back to Linux after 4 years of Mac OS. Super hyped. It's not like this is the first decent laptop that gets released..
It's slightly lighter than my MBP, severely more powerful, and infinitely more upgradable. Now I just have to wait until I make my next trip to the US or someone visits me >.<

The fact the Linux support should arrive after launch is also an at least orange flag for me.
Maybe misleading is too harsh, tried to tone it down with 'a bit'. For me (and I guess you) the important part is here what you wrote at the end, about waiting for the release.
If it releases we can have a 4 legged battle over this :)

Quoting: liamdaweI know this is nitpicking and pessimistic, but for me 'being a one of' the priority items with them missing their fist launch window does not instill confidence in me.Quoting: gabberYou're right "So if you were thinking about buying it, you will want to hold your horses until the Linux version arrives.", but your headline is a bit misleading since:How is it misleading exactly? It will come to Linux, it has been confirmed for a long time and they said it's a priority item.
"one of the priority items" != "will gallop onto Linux"
The title did not say it would come at any specific time, the title was ambiguous for a reason. So no, it was not misleading at all.

Killing Floor 2 for Linux is 'indefinitely on hold' as they can't find a developer

They did advertise Linux when in EA. You're correct: they did not "just make decisions". They knew choosing the route they took is going to mean problems with the port. Bad move for Linux users, we got screwed.
2. Ends do not justify the means.
They may run a successful company, but that's because of their games. Not because they choices in render engine. I like the concept of Killing Floor, I could care less about the engine.
3. 'They know what their doing'.
Just because something works does not mean all the choices along the way are good. Their choices may have led to a faster release on windows.
But I would be willing to bet: This will bite them in their behind down the road due to some update. They will either have to remove the rewritten part, update it or leave KF2 lagging behind in tech.
What is the point of taking a finished engine if you modify it so heavily?
They added microtransactions during EA.. also a good choice?

Quoting: yellownotepadSerious bummer, one of my favs. What's the over/under on seeing this in 2018?
Quoting: kalin1. Broken Promise:Quoting: Faattori"During Killing Floor 2's development a choice was made to rewrite the DirectX rendering system. "Why do you think it's fault. I'm sure they have their reasons. No one just make decisions especially people who successfully run a business.
Well, the fault is completely on them for making the bad decisions.
