Disclaimer: I'm one of the devs. I understand what you're saying, and we try to not require too much, but some kind of sign up is necessary. Would it be less intrusive if you could use an existing Google (or similar) login? It would still link it to an entry in our database since we need to recognize/identify users, but we're open for suggestions here.

If you do decide to try it out, I hope you like it :)

I just love the Steam Controller, I bought 3 for myself. It's confortable, nice to play FPS games, highly configurable, the batteries lasts way longer than I expected.
